Job Summary
An electrician installs maintains and repairs electrical wiring equipment and systems to ensure safe and reliable power in homes businesses and industrial facilities.
Core responsibilities
Install maintain and repair electrical wiring lighting outlets panels and control systems according to technical diagrams and blueprints.
Inspect electrical components such as circuit breakers transformers and wiring then troubleshoot faults using testing devices and repair or replace defective parts.
Plan and execute wiring layouts connect circuits and upgrade existing systems to meet new load safety or efficiency requirements.
Safety and compliance
Follow national and local electrical codes and building regulations to prevent fire shock and other hazards.
Perform routine preventive maintenance to reduce breakdowns including checking insulation tightening connections and testing safety devices.
Use appropriate tools PPE and lockout/tagout procedures to work safely on live or potentially energized systems.
Qualifications :
Skills and requirements
Strong understanding of electrical theory circuitry and the ability to read schematics wiring diagrams and technical documentation.
Manual dexterity problemsolving skills and the ability to diagnose issues quickly in residential commercial or industrial environments.
Typically requires vocational training or apprenticeship plus any required licenses or certifications depending on local regulations.
