Position Summary
The Department of Community and Global Health at the Indiana University (IU) Richard M. Fairbanks School of Public Health ( FSPH ) in Indianapolis Indiana invites applications for a full-time non-tenure track faculty position at the level of Clinical Assistant/Associate/Professor. This position requires on-site presence in Indianapolis consistent with school and campus expectations. Position Overview This 12-month appointment (expected start date on or around July 1 2026) emphasizes a balanced integration of teaching and community-engaged practice with service to the university. The position offers the opportunity to mentor the next generation of public health leaders while maintaining active community partnerships and applied scholarly work. Primary Responsibilities Teaching and Mentorship: The successful candidate will teach and mentor students across the departments undergraduate and graduate programs with particular emphasis on graduate-level courses and student mentorship and doctoral project advising in the DrPH in Global Health Leadership program . Teaching responsibilities may include providing instruction in skills-based courses such as program evaluation monitoring and evaluation and qualitative research methods as well as contributing to the Social and Behavioral Sciences ( SBS ) concentration of the MPH program . The position includes collaboration on experiential learning opportunities such as practicum capstone or internship experiences. Excellence in both in-person and asynchronous online teaching formats is expected. Community-Engaged Practice and Research: The faculty member will conduct community-based participatory research or applied practice in collaboration with community partners. This includes developing and maintaining partnerships with local national and/or international community organizations and stakeholders. The position involves pursuing applied scholarship and disseminating findings to both academic and community audiences as well as engaging in grant and contract development to support community-engaged work. Leadership and Service: This position provides opportunities to contribute to the Social and Behavioral Sciences concentration including curriculum coordination and program development. The faculty member will serve on department school and university committees contribute to the departments strategic initiatives in community partnership development and collaborate with the Department Chair and colleagues to ensure program quality and growth. Required Qualifications Earned doctoral degree (PhD DrPH ScD or equivalent) in public health social sciences behavioral sciences or a closely related field Demonstrated excellence in teaching Experience with and commitment to community-based participatory research and/or community-engaged program evaluation Strong qualitative and/or mixed methods research skills Record of scholarship appropriate to career stage (e.g. peer-reviewed publications technical reports program evaluations) Experience working collaboratively with a variety of communities and stakeholders Commitment to fostering inclusive learning environments and advancing population health especially in communities of greatest need. Preferred Qualifications Experience serving on doctoral committees and advising executive doctoral students in applied projects Established partnerships with community organizations health departments or other practice settings (local national or international) Experience in online and hybrid teaching modalities Track record of successful grant or contract management Expertise in public health program planning implementation and evaluation Experience in curriculum development and program coordination Bilingual or multilingual capabilities About Us We seek individuals who share our vision for communities where opportunities for health and wellbeing are abundant and valued for all.
