The UW AUTISM Center (UWAC) has an outstanding opportunity for a Behavior Technician to join their team.

The UW Autism Center (UWAC) is within the Institute on Human Development and Disability in UW Pediatrics and is devoted to supporting families affected by autism spectrum disorders through exceptional clinical services innovative scientific research and high-quality training.

Position Purpose

This Behavior Technician (Research Study Coordinator 1 (NE S SEIU 925 Non Supv)) is part of a multidisciplinary team that includes psychologists speech-language pathologists board-certified behavior analysts (BCBAs) medical professionals faculty and trainees. The Behavior Technician provides clinical services to children with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) implementing evidence-based interventions grounded in applied behavior analysis under BCBA supervision. Primary responsibilities include delivering direct interventions to children ages 12 months to 6 years in a clinic setting accurately recording intervention data maintaining records and creating individualized therapy materials.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

PROVIDE INTERVENTION

  • Work 1:1 with children age 12 months through 6 years of age and their parents

  • Implement intervention protocols developed by BCBA to increase skills/reduce problem behaviors.

  • Provide responsible positive sensitive intervention and care during therapy.

  • Apply ABA principles in therapy; tailor procedures to fit individual interests/needs.

  • Work under close supervision of masters level BCBA.

  • Assist in completion of curriculum assessments as necessary.

DEVELOP MATERIALS

  • Create and produce picture cards books and other visual supports as needed for the therapy program.

  • Create and produce motivation charts token boards PECS icons visual schedules play materials etc.

ORGANIZING/MAINTAINING THERAPY SPACE

  • Maintain clinic therapy spaces in an organized clean and child-proof manner.

  • Follow sanitizing and cleaning procedures.

  • Follow COVID-19 precaution procedures and protocols.

  • Set up therapeutic materials prior to start of program and clean up at end of program

  • Comply with snack diapers and toileting procedures to ensure hygiene and safety with clients.

MANAGING RECORDS AND DATA COLLECTION

  • Organize and maintain computer and paper records of therapy including collecting and accurately recording data in each therapy session graphing data and completing treatment notes.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

  • Two years of college level course work in a relevant academic area AND two years of experience performing work in support of clinical biomedical or behavioral research studies involving human subject.

  • Equivalent education and/or experience may substitute for minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements such as a license certification and/or registration.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Certified Behavior Technician (CBT) credential in the state of Washington through the DOH.

  • Bachelors degree in related field (psychology education human/child development).

  • Training and experience with early intensive behavioral intervention for children with autism early intervention for toddlers developmental psychology applied behavior analysis special education or related fields.

  • Experience working directly with children and families with Autism Spectrum Disorders.

  • Willingness to commit to this position for 12 months to help ensure continuity for clients.

Compensation Benefits and Position Details

Pay Range Minimum:

$44256.00 annual

Pay Range Maximum:

$56124.00 annual
