Description of Work
The Division of Parks and Recreation is seeking a skilled Vehicle/Equipment Repair Technician III to perform skilled small engine automotive and/or heavy equipment repair. Work includes the service inspection repair rebuild and diagnosis of a diverse number of mechanical systems for a variety of gasoline diesel and alternative powered engines/equipment. Work ranges from inspection and service to highly complex mechanical systems analysis using advanced diagnostic instruments and software; recurring and non-recurring work such as electrical suspension brake system repair and /or fitting and repairing more complex ancillary and specialized equipment. Conducting parts/systems failure analysis; and the calibration adjustment and operation of engine analyzers. Routinely determine materials techniques and tools to accomplish work assignments. Work assignments vary in complexity depending on the type of mechanical system and ancillary components/equipment.Knowledge Skills and Abilities/Management Preferences

Candidates meet the minimum qualifications of this position if they meet the minimum education and experience listed onthe vacancy announcement. Vacancy specific knowledge skills and abilities (KSAs) and/or management preferences are notrequired. Applicants who possess the following are preferred:
Demonstrated experience of the methods practices tools and/or material used in the general maintenance and/or repair of vehicles or heavy equipment including inventory of parts fuel and lubrication commodities.
Demonstrated experience in advanced vehicle routine maintenance and/or problem diagnosis.
Demonstrated experience in the repair of vehicles and/or heavy equipment.
Demonstrated experience in the operation and/or care of small engine types of grounds keeping equipment such as lawn mowers tractors or chainsaws.
Position/Physical Requirements:
Typical work schedule is Monday - Friday 7:30am -4:30pm.
Must be available to work after hours holidays and weekends when necessary.
Must be available to workpark emergencies and conferences.
Travel days occasionally exceed eight hours in length.
Physical strength sufficient to move relatively heavy objects (up to 100 pounds) and to perform heavy manual tasks for considerable periods of time with or without a reasonable accommodation.
Must have a valid drivers license issued from within the United States or be able to obtain one within 90 days of employment.
Within 12-24 months of hire date must have the ability to obtain:
Valid Class C drivers license.
Maintain a CDL Class A license within 1 year of hire.
Maintain CPR Certification within 1 year of hire.
Obtain Division Sponsored Chainsaw Operator within 2 years of hire.

Minimum Education and Experience
Some state job postings say you can qualify by an equivalent combination of education and experience. High school or General Educational Development (GED) diploma AND three (3) years of experience in the area of assignment
OR
A sufficient year- for-year combination of education and experience in the repair work to which assigned; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Necessary Special Qualifications:
May require current certification by the EPA as a Type I II III or Universal technician as required by 40 CFR part 82 subpart F.

Veterans and National Guard Preference
