The Lead Project Planning Specialist will be responsible for managing the overall project planning activities for New Build Turbine Island backlog. The ideal candidate will have an expert level knowledge of project scheduling activities in Primavera P6 or MS Project will possess good interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate across all organizational functions and with external stakeholders.

This role demands a proactive approach in identifying and facilitating solutions and mitigations for complex project challenges. A broad technical understanding of Steam Power generation specifically within the New Build (NB) Turbine portfolio scope is crucial to grasp project constraints logical sequences and technical dependencies. Experience with large-scale thermal power plant projects is essential.

To enable the organizational mission of successful project delivery and closure the candidate will provide strategic planning leadership to ensure good maturity of daily management around balance work / punch points and contract closure this role the incumbent will report to PMO Project Planning & Control Leader.

Job Description

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Leads the creation and update of project schedules (L2/L3/L4) level across the complete project life cycle.
  • Ensures timely creation and review of monthly quantified rolling plans for all project deliverables securing buy-in from internal stakeholders and client.
  • Generates periodic updates of project schedules and generate histograms S-Curves to support project team and PMO reporting guidelines.
  • Maintains a key milestone dashboard view at turbine portfolio level in coordination with project teams to keep track of overall project timelines project float and month-on-month variance.
  • Engages with cross-functional team of engineering quality sourcing and construction to de-bottleneck critical open issues with right collaboration.
  • Maintains a robust issue tracking and escalation management for project issues at multiple levels (Site DMS -> Weekly Project Reviews -> Run Call -> Leadership Daily Stand-up).
  • Implement systematic documentation and records to help enable the delay analysis exercise with customer for L2 schedule revision and contract amendment.
  • Maintain and strengthen punch point tracking Smartsheet and ensure adherence to the standard work on setting up of monthly rolling plans update of actuals constraint and mitigation actions.
  • Proactively identify critical activities and helps the stakeholders in timely anticipating and mitigating potential roadblocks in engineering manufacturing logistics installation commissioning and commercial activities involved in the project.
  • Drives and challenges project team members to ensure plans are adhered to negotiates what goes into the lookahead plans based on project schedule requirement high-level organizational strategy and customer needs.
  • Ensures that forecast task durations and logical relationships are thoroughly understood and committed to by all responsible task owners including cross-functional teams and external suppliers.
  • Creates and delivers contractual reporting (Monthly/Weekly Progress Reports Presentations for customer meetings) and confidently engages with customer on complex progress and scheduling matters.
  • Provides planning and schedule analysis support for disputes and forensic analysis for claims related to schedule impacts.
  • Mentors and guides junior members of planning team fostering best practices and continuous improvement within the planning function.
  • Contributes to the development and standardization of planning processes tools and methodologies used in NB Steam Power portfolio.

  • Operate in a flexible fast-paced environment with evolving deliverables and changes in priorities.

Required Qualifications

  • Engineering degree from a recognized college / university with 8-10 Years of relevant work experience.
  • Strong proficiency in the use of MS office tools Smartsheet scheduling software and other enabling IT applications for project planning work
  • Knowledge of general scheduling principles and methodologies.
  • Good knowledge of power plant fundamentals
  • In-depth understanding of construction and commissioning sequence in medium to large scale EPC projects
  • Ability and willingness to travel to project sites as required
  • Proficiency in English language

Desired Characteristics

  • Experience in planning and execution of large-scale infrastructure projects
  • Strong understanding and experience in working with Lean fundamentals and tools
