Job Summary
Job Title: Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN / LVN) Medical Surgical
Location: Rochester NY 14626
Assignment Duration: 13 Weeks
Shift: Night Shift 312-Hour Shifts (7:00 PM 7:00 AM)
Compensation: $25 $32 per hour
Position Overview
Navitas Healthcare LLC is seeking an experienced Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN/LVN) for a Medical Surgical / Telemetry overflow unit that supports Emergency Department (ED) boarder patients. This is a 14-bed flex unit located within the GI Endoscopy space with patient volume fluctuating based on hospital census and demand.
Qualifications
Active LPN/LVN license (pending licenses not accepted)
BLS certification required
Minimum 1 year of Medical Surgical experience
Experience with MS/Tele and Emergency Department patients preferred
EPIC charting experience required
Previous charge nurse experience preferred
Strong communication and teamwork skills
First-time travelers welcome
Candidates must reside more than 75 miles from the facility
Key Responsibilities
Provide nursing care to Medical Surgical Telemetry and ED boarder patients under RN supervision
Monitor vital signs and perform blood glucose testing
Administer medications via oral IM SQ NG and G-tube routes
Provide oxygen therapy via nasal cannula and face masks
Assist patients with ambulation hygiene and activities of daily living (ADLs)
Insert and manage Foley catheters (male and female) and feeding tubes
Perform admission assessments and report patient condition changes to RN/MD
Maintain infection control and isolation precautions
Utilize SBAR communication for ED patients and verbal handoff for other admissions
Accurately document patient care using EPIC EMR
Float to other Medical Surgical units as needed based on staffing requirements
