Description of Work

This Position reports to the Maintenance Supervisor IV. Positions perform skilled work in the maintenance repair and/or construction of building and facilities. Job duties include:
Requires specialization in two or more technical trades in connection with maintenance of facilities related equipment and machinery.
Functions in multiple skilled trades such as electrical plumbing masonry heating and air or similar specializations.
Assignments are complex and require planning and coordination of multiple trade disciplines.
Functions with limited oversight and seek input from higher level trades specialists in the completion of novel maintenance problems and issues.
Performs independently; however positions may refer unusual work problems to their supervisor for consideration and final determination.
Provides technical guidance to other positions engaged skilled semiskilled or unskilled maintenance work.
Ensures that work performed adheres to established maintenance repair and/or construction standards.

The salary grade for this position isNC09 Salary Range ($ 39671 - $69426).State employees are encouraged to apply for positions of interest even if the salary grade is the same as or lower than their current position. If selected for this position a new salary will be recalculated taking into consideration the quantity of relevant education and experience funding availability and internal equity. Based upon these factors a pay increase MAY result.
AboutFranklin CorrectionalCenter:
Franklin Correctional Center is located in Bunn NC Franklin County and is a medium custody male facility housing approximately 480 offenders. Special programs at this facility include Enterprise Sign Plant High School Equivalency Employment Readiness Adult Outreach Correspondence Thinking for a Change Business Hospitality Commercial Cleaning Industrial Maintenance Logistics and Distribution and Computer Application.
Management Preferences:
Effective July 1 2025 candidates now meet the minimum qualifications of a position if they have the minimum education and experience listed from the class specification. The knowledge skills and abilities listed in the vacancy announcement should be used as management preferences and be used to screen for the most qualified pool of applicants.
Documented working knowledge of commercial/industrial maintenance.
Minimum Education and Experience

High school or General Educational Development (GED) diploma and two (2) years of progressive experience in the assigned trade areas; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Necessary Special Qualification May require current certification by the Environmental Protection Agency as a Type I II III or Universal technician as required by Title 40 Code of Federal Regulations Part 82 Subpart F.EEO Statement
