Main purpose
To support the Head of English in delivering planning and leading the Impact curriculum for both key stage 3 and 4.
The Second in English will work with the Head of English to secure:
Duties and responsibilities
Functional skills lead
Reading and lIbrary lead
The role involves leading and developing high-quality English reading and literacy provision across the school by ensuring the curriculum is well planned consistently implemented and effectively sequenced to support pupil progress. It includes promoting high standards of reading writing speaking listening and phonics while supporting staff through training coaching and shared best practice.
The post holder monitors teaching learning and assessment to ensure accuracy identify gaps and target interventions effectively. They work collaboratively with colleagues building strong professionalrelationships and supporting performance management and professional growth. The role also contributes to strategic planning policy implementation and continuous school improvement in partnership with the Head of English.
