Social Security Scotlands Fraud and Error Resolution Unit (FERU) is seeking two C1 Error Adjudication Leads one leading on Disability Benefits and Fraud Decision Makers and the other role leading on Low Income Benefit and Carers Support. These are high-profile roles where you will apply your leadership skills and benefit decision-making expertise in a dynamic and collaborative environment.

You will lead an operational team investigating potential error cases ensuring compliance with policy and legal requirements identifying opportunities for improvement and engaging with stakeholders. Responsibilities
  • Manage an operational team ensuring compliance with policy and legal guidance and providing support on unusual high-interest or complex cases including where necessary consulting with policy or legal advisers.
  • Ensure consistency in decision-making by strengthening guidance and developing robust Quality Assurance processes.
  • Oversee workflow and caseload management proactively identifying and correcting errors through methods such as sampling and data matching.
  • Monitor and report on team performance collecting appropriate Management Information to support internal performance tracking and the identification analysis and mitigation of fraud and error risks.
  • Draft official reports and papers relating to error for Social Security Scotland.
  • Engage and influence stakeholders to support efforts to reduce error.
  • You will also be appointed (following learning and accreditation) as an Authorising Officer under the Regulation of Investigatory Powers (Scotland) Act 2000 to consider applications to conduct covert operations to support counter-fraud work.

Experience

  1. You will have experience of leading teams in a complex or error correction casework environment delivering an accurate & consistent service.
  2. You will have experience of using a range of data evidence and insight to draft reports for senior stakeholders to secure agreement for error reduction activities.

Technical / Professional Skills:

You will demonstrate the following skills within the ODP Competency Framework

  • Delivery and decision making at speed- Practitioner Level

Working Pattern
Our standard hours are 35 hours per week and we offer a range of flexible working options depending on the needs of the role. We embrace a hybrid working style where all colleagues will spend time in either our Glasgow or Dundee offices.
