Job Summary
Background:
- Wits Health Consortium (Pty) Limited (WHC) is a wholly-owned Company of the University of the Witwatersrand Johannesburg (South Africa) under its Faculty of Health Sciences
- WHC provides Faculty with a legal framework within which to operate the research and other activities necessary to support its academic objectives
- In addition WHC offers a range of products and services to Academics
Main purpose of the job:
- To provide a reliable and courteous transportation service to staff and participants with safety as a top priority
- To provide a communication link between participants and staff; to operate and maintain assigned vehicles
- DPHRU - Chris Hani Baragwanath Academic Hospital Soweto
- Transport the study staff documents and specimens from local clinics to the site
- Collect stock as required
- Find participants which are lost to follow-up and to provide reports
- Fueling the vehicles
- Maintain a logbook for distance travelled and fuel consumption
- Preparing accident and incident reports as necessary
- Providing other service as requested by management when not engaged in transportation service
- Matric
- Valid Drivers Licence (Code B / Code 8 Driver licence) and a PrDP (Professional Driving Permit) is mandatory
- Computer literacy using MS Word and Excel or willingness to learn
- Dangerous Goods License to transport biological samples will be highly advantageous
- 1 - 2 years experience working as a Driver
- Must possess strong organizational skills
- Ability to multi-task
- Self-Disciplined and organised
- Times Management enthusiastic and ability to work in a team environment
- Flexibility and able to speak in the local languages
- Sober habits
- Ability to work overtime
- Must be detail orientated
- Must be able to work as a member of a team
