Description of Work
Employees in this class provide facilitative services and quality care for the welfare safety and security of individuals in state psychiatric hospitals adult corrections juvenile centers developmental centers neuro medical treatment centers or alcohol/drug treatment centers. Employees implement specific goals identified in the individuals comprehensive treatment plan. Employees provide basic medical care and train and assist individuals in activities of daily living; assist in performing complex nursing care; and provide safe and secure environments. Employees may provide individuals training for home living social communications leisure vocations community living and functional academics. Employees implement and stay current in the assigned individuals comprehensive/person-centered treatment plans. Work involves providing ongoing observation interaction and feedback to individuals and reporting concerns to the appropriate professional program staff. Work also involves working with the interdisciplinary/treatment team and providing input on each individuals care and condition. Work involves ongoing contact with individuals who may be diagnosed with a wide spectrum of psychiatric and/or developmental conditions that may include unpredictable behaviors maladaptive and potentially dangerous behaviors. Work may include providing custodial supervision to inmates. Work may involve other closely related duties including the administration of medications in prison facilities. Work is performed under the supervision of clinical (e.g. nursing) or professional program staff.Knowledge Skills and Abilities/Management Preferences
Recruitment Range: $31235.00 - $46852.00 Annually
*A Sign-on bonus of $2000 may be offered to the successful applicant(s) of this posting contingent on the 2025-2026 Budget Approval.
*Eligibility for Sign-on Bonus
To qualify for the Sign-on Bonus a newly hired permanent full-time or permanent part-time employee must work 30 to 40 hours per week to be eligible. Those who are eligible and working less than 40 hours a week will receive a prorated rate.
An employee is not eligible for a sign-on bonus if:
The employee has held a position in the North Carolina State government including the judicial system or the University of North Carolina system within the last 12 months (the employee shall remain ineligible for 12 months from the separation date).
The employee has previously received a sign-on bonus from any State agency.
DHHS has paid any contract placement or recruitment fees.
All Sign-on Bonuses are contingent upon budget and final eligibility determination as of the effective date of hire.

Longleaf Neuro-Medical Treatment Center (LNMTC) located in Wilson NC is a state-operated certified Skilled Nursing Facility (SNF). With a staff of about 520 LNMTC provides support to approximately 200 residents with complex medical needs and/or co-existing neuro-cognitive disorders.
THIS POSITION IS DESIGNATED MANDATORY AND MUST REPORT OR STAY OVER DURING ADVERSE WEATHEREVENTS OR OTHER EMERGENCIES.

Minimum Education and Experience

High school or General Educational Development diploma; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Special Condition for Continued Employment As required listing as a Nurse Aide I by the North Carolina Division of Health Service Regulation. As applicable listing as a Nurse Aide II by the North Carolina Board of Nursing. As applicable North Carolina Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) certification.
