The Bioengineering Department at the University of Washington is looking to fill a position at the RSE-3 level in the research laboratory of Professor Princess Imoukhuede.

The Bioengineering Department at the University of Washington seeks to hire a Research Scientist Engineer (RSE-3) for a computational researcher position in the laboratory of Professor Princess Imoukhuede. The lab is committed to advancing research in womens health cell signaling computational modeling and data-driven innovation. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Project Contribution (40%)
Lead development and execution of computational models for cell surface receptor signaling and trafficking focusing on systems relevant to uterine contraction.
Design research hypotheses and implement experimental protocols incorporating imaging data for model parameterization and analysis.
Conduct regular literature reviews and participate in research seminars workshops and conferences to remain current in the field.
Publish research findings as first author in peer-reviewed journals.

Grant Preparation and Management (40%)
Identify relevant funding sources and opportunities and contribute to proposal preparation (PI co-PI co-I roles).
Collect and organize preliminary data on short timelines to support competitive grant submission.
Support the management of grants and proposals with a clear expectation to establish research aims and actively build a long-term career trajectory toward securing independent research funding.

Research Mentoring (20%)
Mentor and guide students and junior researchers in the development of technical and professional skills helping to shape research goals and project plans.
Review manuscripts and scientific literature as part of collaborative research activities.
Develop and publish figures tables presentations and manuscripts with a strong independent record of first-author publication.

Minimum Requirements:

Bachelors degree in Computational Systems Biology Bioengineering/Biomedical Engineering Biophysics Chemical Engineering Applied Mathematics or a related field AND four years of relevant experience with computational modeling particularly differential equations modeling and parameterization from experimental data.

OR Equivalent education and/or experience may substitute for minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements such as a license certification and/or registration.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS
- Demonstrated experience contributing as key personnel in successful research grant applications (PI co-PI co-I).

- Proven record of scientific writing and publication as first author in high-impact peer-reviewed journals.

- Proficiency in programming languages and scientific computing (e.g. Python R MATLAB/SimBiology).

- Experience mentoring/training PhD students or postdoctoral researchers.

Desired Qualifications:

- Advanced degree in a quantitative field such as Computational Systems Biology Bioengineering/Biomedical Engineering Biophysics Chemical Engineering Applied Mathematics or related discipline.

- Advanced expertise in AI-based optimization and machine learning applied to biological systems.

- Experience with Agent-based modeling and PK/PD modeling

- Experience working with diverse multidisciplinary research teams across institutions or organizations.

- Prior collaboration with industrial partners or external clinical collaborators.

Pay Range Minimum:

$85992.00 annual

Pay Range Maximum:

$90000.00 annual
