Pay Rate:$40.00$45.00 per hour based on experience
Contract Length: approximately 6 months could extend or go full-time
Schedule: MondayFriday 8:00 AM5:00 PM

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Dental Hygienist to provide preventive periodontal and patient education services in a structured clinical setting. This contract opportunity supports a busy dental clinic serving a diverse patient population and requires strong clinical efficiency patient engagement skills and adherence to established healthcare policies and professional standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide patient education and instruction to patients parents and guardians regarding oral health dental disease processes and age-appropriate preventive care
• Deliver periodontal and preventive dental services appropriate to patient age and clinical needs including
  • Root planing
  • Curettage
  • Periodontal charting and diagnostic procedures including digital radiographs
  • Coronal polishing
  • Sealant placement
  • Fluoride varnish application
  • Oral health education
• Expose process and document digital radiographs
• Assist with oral examinations for recall patients as workload and scheduling permit
• Support clinic initiatives aimed at achieving dental GPRA objectives
• Maintain clinical efficiency to ensure no fewer than eight patients are seen per clinic day

Clinic Operations and Daily Expectations

• Arrival time is 8:00 AM on scheduled clinic days
• Maintain efficient time management and strict infection control practices
• Sharpen and maintain dental instruments and equipment used in patient care
• Clean and maintain the dental unit at the end of each workday
• Restock all supplies used in the operatory daily
• Refrain from personal business during clinic hours

Compliance and Professional Standards

• Adhere to all policies and procedures of Indian Health Services and the assigned Service Unit
• Comply with Department of Health and Human Services standards of conduct
• Always maintain professional behavior and patient confidentiality

Required Qualifications

• Completion of an ADA-accredited dental hygiene program evidenced by degree or certification
• Active unrestricted Dental Hygienist license in any U.S. state
• Experience providing periodontal and preventive dental services in a clinical environment
• Proficiency with digital radiography and dental documentation systems
• Strong communication skills with a patient-centered approach
• Ability to complete credentialing and onboarding requirements prior to start

Schedule Details

• Standard clinic schedule consists of an eight-hour shift typically 8:00 AM5:00 PM
• Lunch period from 12:00 PM1:00 PM
• Partial clinic days may be scheduled with prorated compensation by arrangement with Dental Services leadership
• Schedule subject to change based on facility operational needs
