Job Summary:

The Flood Control District has the mission to reduce the risk of flooding in Harris County the third most populated county in the United States with a population in excess of 4.7 million including the City of Houston the nations fourth largest city. The Flood Control District has jurisdiction over the primary stormwater facilities in the county which consist of approximately 1500 channels totaling nearly 2500 miles in length as well as more than 60 regional stormwater detention basins totaling more than 10000 acres and several wetlands mitigation banks including Greens Bayou.


The Harris County Flood Control District is seeking qualified candidates for the Construction Coordinator position who will be responsible for assisting the Fast Action Service Team Department (FAST) with a wide variety of administrative and clerical duties to ensure efficiency within the Department.


Essential Functions & Duties:

Project Setup & Closeout

  • Set up new projects in the FAST filing system as they are received from Property Management and create new projects in District applications as they are received from various sources.

  • Close out projects in the FAST filing system and District applications as they are completed.

Service Requests & Regulatory Submissions

  • Submit requests in the Texas811 GeoCall website for required projects.

  • Submit Environmental Service Requests for required projects.

  • Submit Turf Establishment Service Requests for required projects.

Documentation & Records Management

  • Scan various documents to be filed in project folders and purchase order folders for payment processing.

  • Review all Daily Work Reports for accuracy.

  • Update records in District software applications as necessary.

Financial & Purchasing Support

  • Enter payments and monitor purchase orders.

  • Order office supplies as needed.

Asset & Equipment Management

  • Oversee Asset Inventory and schedule periodic Inventory Audits for vehicles and the shop.

  • Track and schedule Preventive Maintenance and State Inspections for District vehicles equipment and trailers.

Additional Responsibilities and Duties

  • Assume additional responsibilities as required adapting to the Districts evolving demands responsibilities needs and objectives.

Requirements

Education and Experience:

  • Requires a high school graduate preferably an associates or college degree.

  • Requires a minimum of two years of experience in business administration process analysis or production in a field maintenance environment.

Licensure:

  • Valid Class C Texas Drivers License

Knowledge Skills and Abilities:

  • Requires the ability to read and interpret maps.

  • Requires strong organizational and administrative skills.

  • Must solve simple mathematical problems that may be required in normal work situations.

  • Must be able to effectively communicate with coworkers the public industry and government representatives as this position requires involvement with field management activities.

  • Must use proper grammar correct spelling and punctuation simple formats and filing systems.

  • Occasional sorting filing shelving and handling documents books files file drawers and related materials and equipment are required for clerical operations.

  • Approximately 10% of duties are performed outdoors where there will be routine exposure to significant levels of heat cold moisture air pollution wind and dust.

  • May be exposed to vegetation retardants herbicides fertilizers petroleum products including but not limited to gasoline oil grease diesel and other fuels and lubricants.

  • May be exposed to snakes wildlife wasps bees other flying or walking insects aquatic bacteria viruses and other microorganisms.

  • Approximately 90% of duties are performed indoors in a normal office environment with acceptable lighting temperature air conditioning and noise levels.
