Role: Enterprise Architect Application Portfolio Management (APM)
Location: Reston VA- Hybrid(3 days a week onsite)
Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Enterprise Architect with strong Application Portfolio Management (APM) expertise to support enterprise-wide modernization rationalization and optimization of applications and technology platforms. The role will focus on aligning business objectives with IT strategy leveraging EA frameworks and repository tools (Alfabet/ARIS) to drive portfolio transparency efficiency and compliance.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead Application Portfolio Management (APM) initiatives including application rationalization lifecycle management and modernization planning.
- Partner with business and technology stakeholders to define target architectures roadmaps and transition strategies.
- Utilize EA frameworks (TOGAF FEAF DoDAF Zachman) to ensure architectural consistency and compliance.
- Implement and optimize EA repository tools (preferably Software AG Alfabet or ARIS) for portfolio tracking reporting and governance.
- Conduct analysis of alternatives (AoA) for applications and platforms providing recommendations for consolidation retirement or migration.
- Support cloud adoption strategies (AWS/Azure) ensuring alignment with enterprise standards and security requirements.
- Provide data-driven insights to senior leadership for investment decisions cost optimization and risk management.
- Facilitate workshops and working groups to capture requirements define solutions and promote stakeholder alignment.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate APM processes into enterprise governance and reporting.
Required Skills & Experience
- 10 years of Enterprise Architecture experience in large-scale environments.
- Proven expertise in Application Portfolio Management (APM) including rationalization and modernization.
- Hands-on experience with EA repository tools: Software AG Alfabet (preferred) or ARIS.
- Strong knowledge of EA frameworks: TOGAF FEAF DoDAF Zachman.
- Experience with cloud platforms (AWS Azure) and modern architecture practices (Microservices DevOps APIs).
- Familiarity with data governance compliance frameworks and security standards (NIST Zero Trust).
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills with ability to present to senior executives.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with ability to translate business needs into technical solutions.
Preferred Qualifications
- Certification in TOGAF SAFe or FEAF.
- Experience with portfolio reporting tools (Power BI JIRA ServiceNow).
- Knowledge of regulatory compliance in financial services or federal environments
