Job Description Summary

Providence Health & Services is seeking a Registered Nurse for an outpatient cardiac surgery clinic to support pre-surgical patient visits. This is a 13-week temp-to-hire role with the expectation of permanent conversion if performance and business needs align. The RN will focus on patient education pre-operative assessments diagnostic review and coordination with surgeons and schedulers. Candidates must have an active Washington RN license in hand and be comfortable caring for medically fragile high-anxiety cardiac patients.

Responsibilities

Conduct pre-surgical nurse visits for cardiac surgery patients
Provide extensive patient education regarding procedures risks and post-operative expectations
Obtain and perform 12-lead EKG/ECGs
Review and interpret laboratory and diagnostic results
Perform MRSA swabs per pre-op protocol
Coordinate care and communicate findings with surgeons and clinic schedulers
Support discharge planning and transition-of-care education
Manage clinic workflow with an approximate 1:5 patient ratio
Document all care accurately and timely in Epic EMR

Key Requirements

Active Washington State RN license REQUIRED (must be in hand)
Minimum 1 year RN experience REQUIRED
- 2 years inpatient or cardiac clinic experience preferred
Epic EMR experience REQUIRED
Willingness to convert to permanent role after 13 weeks if offered
Reliable personal transportation required
Non-local candidates must agree to commute or relocate within range
No floating No weekends No on-call

Qualifications Education

Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)

Experience

At least 1 year experience as an inpatient RN or outpatient cardiac clinic RN
Preferred experience in cardiology cardiac surgery or telemetry settings
Experience supporting anxious high-risk cardiac patient populations

License

Active Washington State Registered Nurse (RN) license REQUIRED
BLS (Basic Life Support)
