We are seeking for a Cardiac Surgery Registered Nurse for a 13-week temp-to-hire assignment supporting a pre-surgical cardiac clinic. This role focuses heavily on patient education pre-operative assessments diagnostic review and coordination with surgeons and schedulers. Candidates must hold an active WA RN license in hand and be comfortable working with high-acuity anxious cardiac patients. Both local and travel candidates are accepted with relocation/commute agreement required if outside the local range.
ResponsibilitiesConduct comprehensive pre-surgical nurse visits for cardiac surgery patients
Provide extensive patient education regarding surgery expectations and post-op recovery
Perform and interpret 12-lead EKGs
Review and interpret laboratory results and clinical data
Perform MRSA swabs as part of pre-op protocols
Coordinate care and communicate findings with surgeons and clinic schedulers
Support discharge planning and transition-of-care education
Manage a clinic caseload with an approximate 1:5 patient ratio
Document all care accurately in Epic EMR
Ensure patients are prepared informed and supported throughout the pre-operative process
Active Washington RN license REQUIRED (must be in hand)
Minimum 1 year RN experience REQUIRED
2 years inpatient or cardiac clinic experience preferred
Epic EMR experience REQUIRED
Willingness to convert to permanent role after 13 weeks if offered
Reliable personal transportation required
Ability to commute or relocate within local range if non-local
No floating No weekends No on-call
Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)
At least 1 year experience as an inpatient RN or cardiac clinic nurse
Preferred experience in cardiology cardiac surgery or telemetry settings
Experience working with medically fragile high-anxiety cardiac patients
Active Washington State Registered Nurse (RN) license REQUIRED
BLS (Basic Life Support)
Cardiology and cardiac surgery clinic workflows
Pre-operative patient assessment and education
Interpretation of laboratory results
Obtain and interpret 12-lead EKG/ECG
MRSA swab collection
Discharge planning and care coordination
Patient education and counseling
Epic documentation
Strong communication and organizational skills
