About the role
OurKids in Focus (KiF)programruns inpartnership with LivesLived Well offering case managementearly interventionsupports and community educationto families on the Gold Coast who may be facingdifficultiesrelated todual diagnosis ofsubstance misuseandmental health challenges.
As ourChild and Family Practitioneryou will play a pivotal role in empowering parents and caregivers to make constructive choices foster healthy bonds with their children and enhance their parenting abilitiesultimately creatingsafer family environments.
Your responsibilities may vary based on the unique circumstances of each familyyou support as well as providing community education on a wider could involve providing essential informationfacilitatingreferrals to relevant services impartingtechniquesor tools forminimisingharm in relation to drug useandmental healthchallengesrebuilding relationships oridentifyingculturallyappropriate supportsas part of their safety plan and parental skill may alsobe requiredto share education and interventions on a wider level through thedelivery of seminars or group programs.
- Assess develop and implement support plans to enhance the wellbeing of children and build key relationships within the family unit.
- Provide home-based parenting coaching and education.
- Enhance social connections by referring families to various community-based activities e.g. childcare playgroups parent-child programs.
- Facilitate access to rehabilitation and information about treatment options for drug and alcohol misuse.
- Facilitate and/or coordinate education seminars or group programs aimed at improving family functioning and parental skill enhancement.

- Degree qualified in social workPsychologyBehaviouralSciencesor similar.
- 2 yearsdemonstrated experience and/or qualifications supporting clientsin the area ofDrug and Alcohol misuse.
- Demonstrated understanding of child protection issues and client vulnerabilities such as drug and alcohol use domestic violence mental health issues and the impact of trauma and the effect on child behaviour and development.
- Understanding of the needs of diverse communities such as Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD) and gay lesbian bisexual transgender and intersex (LGBTIQ) communities.
- Good relationship building skills with the ability to create strong working relationships with different stakeholders.
