Shift: Full Time 7:30 PM - 8:00 AM
As a member of the interdisciplinary care team this role contributes professional nursing knowledge and skills in the delivery and management of care for patients and their families. Nurses maintain a practice environment that reflects the ANA Code of Ethics the UnityPoint Health Philosophy of Nursing and the Professional Nurse Practice Model working collaboratively with all members of the care team.
Our nurses are highly trained to care for patients across the the Emergency Department they expertly perform bedside procedures utilize critical trauma and medical equipment and manage continuous bedside monitoring in most patient rooms to ensure accurate real-time assessment. ED nurses also administer vasoactive medications to support blood pressure and provide sedation for ventilated patients.
Rock Island operates as a Level II Trauma Center while Bettendorf is designated as a Level IV Trauma Center giving our teams the opportunity to care for a wide range of trauma acuity across both locations.
To support success we offer a comprehensive 34 month orientation for new nurses which includes hands-on bedside training classroom education and strong leadership support throughout the transition into the department

Responsibilities
- Quickly assess patients upon arrival to determine the severity of patients condition prioritizing care based on urgency. This includes monitoring vital signs documenting symptoms and initiating approptriate treatment protocols.
- Provide immediate care and treatment to patients experiencing acute medical conditions such as trauma heart attacks or respiratory distress. This may include administering medications starting IVs wound care and preparing patients for surgery or transfer.
- Work closely with docotors paramedics and other healthcare professionals to develop and implement treatment plans ensuring seamless communication and coordination during emrgency situations.
Qualifications
Education:
- Diploma from an RN program.
License(s)/Certification(s):
- Current licensure in good standing to practice as a Registered Nurse in primary state.
- Must apply within 90 days for licensure in secondary state.
- Must possess and maintain current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- Must possess and maintain ACLS
