Material Controller

Play an integral role in delivering projects that matter. At Worley materials are more than inventorythey are the backbone of safe efficient and sustainable project execution. As a Material Controller you join a collaborative project environment where planning precision and partnership come together to support construction and installation activities that drive real-world impact. This role sits at the intersection of engineering procurement and construction and is ideal for someone who takes pride in keeping complex projects moving forward through disciplined materials management.

Purpose of the role

You will be responsible for ensuring the efficient receipt storage control and distribution of materials and equipment on site. The role focuses on maintaining a robust materials control system that aligns engineering requirements with construction schedules while supporting Worleys commitment to sustainability safety and operational excellence. Your work ensures that materials are available when needed waste is minimized and projects are positioned for successful execution.

Core Responsibilities

  • Review engineering drawings blueprints and product specifications to accurately determine material requirements and confirm alignment with project scope and sustainability objectives.
  • Maintain and operate a comprehensive materials control and inventory management system tracking materials from receipt through final issue.
  • Coordinate closely with engineering procurement construction and site teams to ensure materials are available at the right time and location.
  • Process material requisitions and orders verifying specifications codes quantities and approved vendors or brands.
  • Monitor material usage and inventory levels adjusting forecasts and orders to reflect project changes or existing stock.
  • Identify potential material shortages surpluses or risks and develop practical proactive mitigation plans.
  • Ensure materials handling storage and distribution activities comply with safety quality and project standards.
  • Leverage digital tools ERP systems and reporting processes to improve accuracy visibility and efficiency in materials management.
  • Provide guidance and technical support to team members involved in material control activities.
  • Communicate clearly and professionally with contractors suppliers and internal stakeholders to resolve issues and maintain seamless material flow.

What youll bring to the role

  • A bachelors degree in a relevant discipline or equivalent experience in material control logistics or supply chain management.
  • Demonstrated experience in materials management logistics procurement or related roles within the energy chemicals or resources sectors.
  • Strong ability to interpret engineering documents blueprints and technical specifications.
  • Proficiency with inventory management systems and ERP platforms.
  • A self-directed work style with the ability to plan prioritize and execute tasks with minimal supervision.
  • Well-developed analytical and problem-solving skills paired with sound judgment and attention to detail.
  • Working knowledge of safety and quality standards related to material handling and storage.
  • Clear effective communication skills and the ability to collaborate with diverse project teams.
  • Flexibility and resilience in a fast-paced changing project environment.
