This is a full time hybrid position requiring 2 days a week in office. There may be some evening and weekend support for events and board meetings.

As a seasoned professional in community outreach and education you will be a critical member of the team that coordinates a variety of services to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (I/dd) and their families. You will be directly supporting the Developmental Disabilities Advisory Board as well as planning implementing and monitoring contracted community outreach and educationservices that are responsive to the needs of people with disabilities in the community. You will collect information on how best to use funds create Request for Proposals (RFPs) monitor contracts and review data of our efforts.


The Developmental Disabilities Division contracts with agencies in the community to provide:

  • County-wide information and education targeted at individuals across the lifespan.
  • Early support services for children with developmental delays from birth to three years.
  • Supported Employment programs for youth and adults aged 19 and older.

How to be Successful in the Role:

We are looking for someone with an understanding of the Developmental Disability community and services who will use their collaborative approach strong communication skills and program planning experience to lead and support our program. Someone with strong written and verbal communication who seeks to understand others who assesses impacts and makes recommendations when solving problems. Someone who can adapt their work style across a diverse and varied group of people. And who understands complex technical language and can translate it into easy-to-understand information for others.

Throughout the onboarding process you will meet with the Supervisors teams and the admin team regularly to discuss expectations set goals identify priorities and gain familiarity with current policies procedures and strategic measures. Core Daily Responsibilities:

  • Develop program plans. Facilitate planning advisory board and public forums as appropriate. Coordinate citizen groups service agencies and other organizations involved in the planning process.
  • Participate in local and statewide workgroups regarding planning and policy development.
  • Assist Managers and Supervisors in the coordination and recruitment of citizen groups service agencies and other organizations involved in the planning process.
  • Provide guidance in the implementation and monitoring of plans.
  • Interpret complex or detailed federal or state regulations to ensure program compliance.

Qualifications

  • Graduation from a four-year college or university with a Bachelors degree in public or business administration social work or a related field AND
  • Three (3) years of professional social services work experience which includes work with related programs contracts planning or services required.
  • Additional education or experience that clearly indicates the ability to perform the essential functions of this position may be substituted on a year-for-year basis.
  • A valid Washington State drivers license is required when using a county vehicle.
