This role is part of Advanced Concepts and Enterprise Engineering (ACE) supporting Blue Origins mission of millions of people living and working in space for the benefit of Earth. The team fosters innovation and drives engineering workflows of the future shared solutions and standards simplicity and lower costs and manufacturable design.

In this hands-on role you will be based entirely on-site at our Los Angeles Facility collaborating closely with the Space Resources Program team. We are looking for an experienced self-motivated and hands-on electrical engineer. Your responsibilities will include ownership of the full design cycle of electrical hardware with minimal day-to-day oversight drive verification evidence and anomaly closure with a strong culture of safety and quality and delivery of high-quality products in a safety- and mission-critical environment.

Key Responsibilities and Core Deliverables:

Avionics and power architecture (for assigned elements):

  • Own electrical architecture details for assigned avionics/instrument assemblies:power distribution/protection interface electrical characteristics grounding/bonding/shielding approach andelectrical/thermal deratinginputs.
  • Develop and maintain electrical block diagrams interface budgets and acceptance criteria for your scope; support requirement decomposition/allocation to subcircuits.
  • Deliverables:baselined power/interface budgets (for scope) block diagrams requirements allocations acceptance criteria design notes.

Board-/box-level design and build (primary):

  • Design and release schematics/PCBs or box-level electrical designs for assigned hardware; perform EEE parts selection tolerancing/derating and vendor build package development.
  • Partner with layout mechanical and analysis to addressSI/PIandEMC/EMIconsiderations; support design-for-manufacture/assembly/test.
  • Deliverables:released schematics/layout packages BoMs manufacturing outputs assembly/test travelers as-built records.

Harnessing connectors and electrical interfaces:

  • Design and/or review harnesses connectors pinouts and cable drawings for assigned interfaces; ensure robustness across environments and integration constraints.
  • Draft and maintain electrical ICD content for your interfaces; support configuration/change control and interface verification planning.
  • Deliverables:harness/connector drawings pinout tables CM-controlled ICD sections interface verification plans/evidence.

Verification environmental and EMI/EMC test (plan execute for owned hardware):

  • Develop and execute test procedures for functional/performance verification; support and troubleshootTVAC vibe/shock and EMI/EMCactivities relevant to your scope.
  • Analyze test data document results and drive discrepancies to closure in collaboration with MA/Q and cross-functional teams.
  • Deliverables:ATP/ATR procedures & reports (scope) environmental/EMI/EMC support artifacts discrepancy tracking/closures qualification/acceptance summaries (scope).

AIT support and anomaly resolution:

  • Support bring-up diagnostics and integration of your hardware to the instrument/satellite stack; provide NCR/MRB technical inputs and corrective action recommendations.
  • Lead or co-lead failure investigations for issues within your scope including root cause containment and redesign recommendations.
  • Deliverables:integration procedures/checklists failure investigation writeups NCR/MRB inputs integration test reports.

Software/firmware electrical interface coordination:

  • Coordinate with Software on DAQ/command/telemetry electrical interfaces time sync signals and fault management hooks; support HIL/interface validation as needed.
  • Deliverables:verified interface definitions (signal levels/timing) telemetry/channel definitions support ops procedure inputs (scope).

Configuration quality and best-practice improvements

  • Maintain configuration-controlled design artifacts and test evidence; contribute to continuous improvement (templates checklists review practices lab workflows).
  • Deliverables:CM-ready release packages review artifacts team-level tool/process improvements.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • electrical engineering or related field (or equivalent practical experience).
  • 5 yearsin high-reliability electronics (spacecraft/launch/aviation/defense or similar) includingboard- and/or box-leveldesign through integration and test.
  • Demonstrated ability to produce release-quality artifacts under configuration control (schematics BoMs drawings test procedures/reports).
  • Hands-on lab bring-up/debug skills (oscilloscope DMM logic analyzer power supplies load emulation; failure isolation and re-test).
  • Proficiency with ECAD/analysis tools ( SPICE) and practical SI/PI EMC-aware design fundamentals.
  • Strong cross-functional communication with systems mechanical software and mission assurance/quality.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • electrical engineering or related field.
  • SmallSat/CubeSat payload avionics integration experience (bus/dispenser interfaces; rideshare exposure).
  • Depth in one or more: power conversion/protection (DC/DC latch-up mitigation) mixed-signal design high-speed digital interfaces grounding/bonding/shielding.
  • Experience supportingTVAC/vibe/shockandEMI/EMCtesting with troubleshooting and closure documentation.
  • Familiarity with spacecraft electrical/data links ( SpaceWire CAN RS422) and time synchronization considerations.
  • Experience with parts derating traceability (CoC/CoQ) and basic radiation considerations (TID/SEE) appropriate to mission class.


Compensation Range for:

CA applicants is $130706.00 - $182987.70
