Essential Functions
-Provide accurate and confidential interpretation services between healthcare providers patients and their families who use American Sign Language as their primary means of communication.
-Serve as a cultural mediator bridging the gap between Deaf or hard-of-hearing patients and healthcare professionals to ensure understanding and respect for cultural differences.
-Demonstrate a strong understanding of medical terminology abbreviations and procedures to facilitate accurate interpretation of medical discussions.
-Maintain a high level of sensitivity and professionalism while interpreting sensitive and confidential medical information.
-Maintain accurate and detailed records of interpreted encounters including dates times locations and names of participants.
