Job Description:
A Computer Operatormonitors and manages computer systems ensuring smooth operation by performing tasks like running batch jobs backing up data troubleshooting hardware/software issues and providing user support often within data centers or server rooms. Key duties include executing production schedules maintaining logs installing updates managing security and collaborating with IT teams on system optimization and maintenance.
Key Responsibilities:
- System Monitoring: Watch over mainframes servers and networks for optimal performance and uptime responding to alerts and error messages.
- Job Scheduling & Execution: Run daily operations input commands and manage batch processing according to production schedules.
- Maintenance & Support: Perform routine hardware/software maintenance install updates and troubleshoot issues for users.
- Data Management: Execute backups ensure data security and maintain data integrity.
- Documentation: Maintain detailed logs run procedure manuals and update technical documentation.
- Collaboration: Work with programmers analysts and other IT staff to resolve problems and implement new systems.
Typical Duties:
- Performing data processing and running scheduled tasks.
- Troubleshooting and resolving system errors and malfunctions.
- Managing backups and disaster recovery procedures.
- Installing and configuring hardware/software.
- Providing technical assistance to users.
Work Environment:
- Often works in server rooms or data centers.
