THIS IS A GRANT-FUNDED POSITION FUNDED UNTIL JANUARY 1 2028
JOB SUMMARY/ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: Under the direction of the Principal Investigator the Research Technician 2 performs rodent handling and in vitro cell-based assays.
ResponsibilitiesPerforms in vitro cell-based assays in primary neuronal and astrocyte cultures.
Assists with nucleic acid extractions protein extractions and other basic molecular biology as needed.
Supports all aspects of rodent studies including colony maintenance estrus cycle monitoring timed matings embryo collection blood collection tissue collections perfusions and injection.
Performs behavioral phenotyping assays.
Performs stereotaxic injections to deliver viral vectors to select rodent brain regions.
Assists in the publication and presentation of data papers at internal and external meetings.
Prepares weekly reports for lab meetings.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
QualificationsMINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
EDUCATION:Bachelors Degree in Biology Psychology Mathematics Computer Science or a related field.(TRANSCRIPT REQUIRED)
EXPERIENCE: ORa combination of college coursework and work experience to equal four (4) years.
KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Meticulous record-keeping skills with attention to detail.
- Basic computer skills.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills.
- Ability to work as part of a team and follow directions.
- Ability to plan and complete experiments in a timely manner and around the schedule of important collaborators and institutional cores.
WORK SCHEDULE: This position may occasionally be required to work weekends and evenings. May require occasional overnight travel.
