Position Overview
KIPP Nashville Public Schools is committed to providing a college preparatory education to all students. The MD of K-12 Academic Operations plays a critical role in realizing this mission by ensuring the critical academic structures of curriculum assessments professional development and grading are coordinated effectively together within our school calendar as well as project managing the implementation of key academic strategies like Curriculum Management Arc Reviews Summer PD and Regional PD.
Key Responsibilities:
The Managing Director of Academic Operations reports to the Chief of Schools. Responsibilities of the MD of Academic Operations include but are not limited to:
Curriculum Materials Management
Ensure accurate Master Order Lists for K-12 Academics in alignment with OneKIPP implementation.
Lead the region-wide procurement process for the purchasing of required academic materials including school leadership teams through implementation as well as leaders on the School Support Team
Monitor contracts and manage bid/RFP processes for regional operations functions as needed to remain in compliance with state and federal purchasing regulations
Build the strategy and accountability systems for monitoring its procurement delivery and setup in classrooms/required spaces prior to each school year.
Manage organize and oversee KIPP Nashvilles K-12 online curriculum organizational systems to ensure efficient and effective stakeholder access.
Progress Monitoring Systems
In partnership with the Chief of Schools Chief Academic Officer and Heads of Schools ensure regular academic progress monitoring for Principal Managers and the Regional Leadership Team.
Manage the systems supporting the K-12 Arc of the Year - including shared drive materials management the communication and collection of Arc Review pre-work and post-work (when applicable) and all day-of logistics for each schools review.
OneKIPP Implementation: Coordinate with KIPP Foundation to ensure alignment of K-12 progress monitoring systems - K-8 Literacy K-8 Math and HS design.
Academic Progress Monitoring
In partnership with the Chief of Schools and Chief Academic Officer drive regional structures (APM meetings cabinet meetings and leader meetings) that ensure effective and timely progress monitoring of student achievement with key stakeholders.
Collaborate actively with different academy levels to ensure efficient execution of regional priorities across campuses.
Assist in the research data collection and preparation of internal academic reports and external requests ensuring accuracy of content and timely delivery; including annual progress reports external mandated documentation and compliance reports.
Manage organize and oversee senior-level meeting agendas materials and historical documents vital to organizational operations.
Grading and Assessments
Serve as primary point of contact with key assessment vendors
Managing the interim assessments each year (currently 3 per year) - from vendor management to timing guidelines for schools printing and all associated logistics
Review and revise K-12 academic policies annually leveraging strong input from key stakeholders
Maintain the KIPP Nashville common assessment system (approximately 800 assessments yearly). This work includes maintaining an organizational system that ensures:
all common assessments are accurately entered into the common assessment calendar
all assessment windows are accurately communicated to school teams
all assessments materials are available to teachers two weeks in advance of assessment dates in google folders and linked on the Launch site
all assessments are correctly entered and tagged in Illuminate
all completion rates are correctly and regularly reported on
Regional Professional Development
Support the Chief of Schools and members of the team in the vision setting and project planning of Summer Professional Development beginning with Leadership Institute through all summer regional PD experiences
Project manage all elements of summer PD including logistics (e.g. maintaining the schedule with input from key stakeholders securing locations ordering supplies maintaining roster of attendees communicating with presenters securing and assigning volunteers) as well as establishing the desired culture through aesthetics and norms/routines
Project manage in-year Regional PD days in partnership with senior regional leaders.
Compose and deliver event communication including the programming agenda logistical information for instructors participants and team and other event-related documents
Research secure manage and evaluate vendors to provide needed services at live and virtual events within purchasing and operating guidelines and within budget.
ONEKIPP Implementation External Visits
Coordinate logistics for external visitors and progress monitoring visits including scheduling accommodations and transportation.
Serve as the primary point of contact for visitors ensuring smooth communication and support before during and after visits.
Prepare and distribute agendas itineraries and relevant documentation for all visits.
Facilitate on-site arrangements including meeting room setup security clearance and visitor badges.
Collaborate with internal teams to ensure alignment and readiness for monitoring visits.
Track and document visit outcomes action items and follow-ups for continuous improvement.
Address any visitor inquiries or concerns promptly and professionally.
Ensure compliance with organizational policies and protocols for external engagements.
Ensure compliance and attendance at KIPP Virtual Learning Weeks
Support data collection and reporting related to progress monitoring activities.
Qualifications :

Minimum 5 years exemplary project management experience with senior leaders
Minimum 3 years exemplary teacher coaching and/or adult management experience
Experience and desire to work across multiple edtech platforms to ensure smooth student and staff experience with key interfaces
Demonstrated ability to drive student success
Experience planning and leading engaging and effective professional development for adults
Experience in curriculum support such as assessment writing and/or scope and sequence management
Strong project management skills organizational skills and attention to detail
Excellent communicator who can work with internal and external stakeholders

Additional Information :
Compensation
Starting salary for this role is $115000. Our comprehensive compensation package includes life insurance and long-term disability coverage provided by KIPP Nashville voluntary medical and dental plans in addition to retirement benefits and an annual salary increase. To establish equitable salary practices the compensation package is derived from the regional KIPP Nashville Public Schools pay scale. This position is exempt and will follow a 12-month schedule.
