Prepares and dispenses pharmaceuticals in accordance with hospital policy standards of practice and applicable State and Federal regulations. Manages drug therapy protocol and teaches patients and other hospital staff.
ResponsibilitiesEssential Functions and Responsibilities
Pharmacy security in accordance with hospital policy and procedure.

supervises and assists support personnel in a consistent form and fair manner; maintains steady productivity through observation and provides direction when necessary; leads by professional example.
confidence from physicians by performing and communicating in a highly professional manner at all times.
involvement in unit by attending 50% of staff/committee meetings
or participates with opportunities for improvement (OFI)
and coordinates workload so that tasks are completed in an efficient manner; keeps patient care the number one priority.
deadlines in special projects and daily responsibilities; demonstrates a need no reminders attitude; keeps Director of Pharmacy and Pharmacy Clinical Manager informed of project status. Completes clinical services in an accurate and timely manner
monthly narcotic room cycle counts as assigned
reference materials to ensure accuracy.
documents interventions in the epic and Sentri 7 system as evidenced by monthly reports.
completes all clinical service documentation as evidenced by periodic audit by Pharmacy Clinical Manager.
utilizes epic for all pediatric dose range checking.
technology i.e. barcoding drug-drug interactions dose range checking allergies and therapeutic duplication notifications to enhance patient safety as evidenced by override audits.
work of pharmacy technicians who prepare medications and signs as appropriate.
medical staff members who order non-formulary medications to suggest therapeutic alternatives.
the preparation of new and refill medication orders IV admixtures and extemporaneous pharmaceutical preparations accurately and enters orders into computer appropriately as evidenced by MAR discrepancies and complete MAR transcriptions.
QualificationsEducation: Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D.) from an accredited school of pharmacy or Bachelor of Science Degree in Pharmacy with appropriate experience in pharmacy practice.
Informal/Continuing Education - As appropriate to maintain knowledge skill and licensure.
Experience: Experience applying customer service behaviors and communication skills required. Two years hospital pharmacy experience preferred.
Certifications/Licensure: Licensed as a registered pharmacist in good standing or licensure eligible with Pennsylvania State Board of Pharmacy.
