Senior Associate Corporate Finance Technology & Innovation Banking - Roynat Capital

Purpose

The Technology and Innovation Banking team at Roynat Capital supports fast growing Canadian technology companies across the entire lifecycle. With lived industry experience in the Canadian technology ecosystem our dedicated team provides comprehensive banking services and non-dilutive financing solutions specifically tailored for this industrys needs. We are deeply focused on helping innovative founders and investors scale and succeed.

The Senior Associate will join the Corporate Finance team which manages the end-to-end process of structuring due diligence and underwriting for both new and existing client opportunities. This team provides creative financing solutions to late-stage technology companies with a focus on syndicated transactions publicly traded corporations and private equity-backed businesses.

In this role you will contribute to the profitable growth and quality of the Corporate Finance teams portfolio by conducting in-depth analysis supporting complex deal execution and ensuring ongoing portfolio monitoring and risk management. The Senior Associate is a key member of the client coverage team and will engage directly with clients.


Accountabilities:

Origination Support: Support the Associate Director and Director with structuring underwriting due diligence and closing of credit solutions for assigned prospects and clients including but not limited to:


Conducting industry research and preparing deal summaries.
Completing comprehensive credit applications for large and complex transactions exercising sound credit judgment based on thorough investigations and analysis.
Providing AML/KYC support and processing draw requests and disbursements.

Portfolio Transaction Management: Assist in the day-to-day management of a portfolio of accounts including but not limited to:


Managing borrower requests amendments and lender consents.
Ensuring timely completion of annual credit reviews monitoring loan compliance and tracking industry and client-specific trends all with a consistently high level of attention to detail.

Data Integrity and Record Management:


Ensure loan terms are accurately captured in the Banks systems.
Ensure all credit approval and due diligence documentation is properly saved and organized in the Banks document repository.
Ensure client communications are fully captured in the Banks internal CRM system.

Business Development Support:


Support the team in developing and executing go-to-market activities; build and nurture cross-functional relationships within the Bank to deepen product knowledge and maintain positive relationships with the Customer Success Team Global Risk Management (GRM) and Business Service Centre (BSC).

Additional Responsibilities:


Demonstrate the ability to effectively manage multiple transactions and priorities simultaneously proactively managing workflows and ensuring high-quality deliverables.
Understand how the Banks risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions.
Actively pursue effective and efficient operations in accordance with Scotiabanks Values Code of Conduct and Global Sales Principles while ensuring adherence to operational compliance AML/ATF/sanctions and conduct risk requirements.
Foster a high-performance environment and contribute to an inclusive workplace.
Adhere to all regulatory and internal Bank policies and requirements.

Reporting Relationships:


Primary Manager: Director Technology and Innovation Banking


Dimensions:


Strong familiarity with venture debt corporate lending and/or private credit.
Advanced credit analysis and analytical skills with a deep understanding of financial statements and the ability to conduct thorough due diligence.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills combined with strong problem-solving abilities and the capacity to manage multiple stakeholder expectations.
Ability to read and interpret complex legal documents.
Strong work ethic and proven ability to prioritize tasks perform well under pressure and meet time-sensitive deadlines.
Collaborative mindset with the ability to work effectively within a team environment interact across all levels of a large organization and mentor analysts.
Highly motivated self-starter with exceptional attention to detail and a strong interest in corporate finance and credit.


Education / Experience / Other Information:


Bachelors degree in Finance Business Economics or a related field.
Minimum of three years of experience in a related field including banking or corporate lending experience finance and/or risk management.


Working Conditions:


Work in a standard office-based environment; non-standard hours are a common occurrence. Some travel may be required.
