Fortuna is seeking an experienced Energy / Demand Forecasting Analyst to support large-scale energy efficiency demand forecasting and decarbonization initiatives for a public-sector client in California. This role focuses on analytical modeling data integration and scenario development related to energy efficiency (EE) demand response electrification and greenhouse gas (GHG) impacts. The ideal candidate brings strong quantitative skills experience with energy data and forecasting tools and the ability to translate complex analysis into clear decision-ready insights.

WORK SCHEDULE: Full-time Contract
PAY RATE: $75 $85 per hour (depending on experience and engagement type)

WHAT YOULL DO:
Develop update and maintain energy efficiency and demand forecasting models to support statewide energy policy and planning initiatives
Analyze hourly seasonal and long-term electricity and natural gas demand using large multi-source datasets
Support forecasting and scenario analysis related to energy efficiency demand response electrification and fuel substitution programs
Integrate EM&V data utility billing data and other market or program data into analytical tools and models
Conduct quantitative analysis using Excel-based models and statistical or scripting tools (e.g. R)
Evaluate policy program and technology impacts on energy demand costs and GHG emissions with consideration for equity impacts
Prepare clear documentation summaries and visualizations to communicate analytical findings to technical and non-technical stakeholders
Collaborate with engineers data integration specialists and project managers to support integrated analytical workflows
WHAT YOULL BRING:
Bachelors degree or higher in Economics Engineering Energy Systems Environmental Science Applied Mathematics Data Science or a related field
5 years of experience in energy efficiency analysis demand forecasting or energy-related quantitative modeling
Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel for complex analytical modeling
Experience using statistical or scripting tools such as R (preferred) or Python for data analysis
Familiarity with utility energy efficiency programs demand response or decarbonization initiatives
Experience working with large datasets including utility programmatic or meter-level data
Ability to clearly document methods and communicate analytical results
Experience supporting public-sector regulatory or utility clients in California is strongly preferred
