The Opportunity
Hitachi Energy has an exciting opportunity to join our Transformers business as a Field Service Engineer. Youll contribute to the execution of the service strategy and service growth by focusing on delivering timely high-quality cost-effective service offerings solutions and engineering projects for customers.
Execute Service work in accordance with Hitachi Energy standard processes quality standards and safety guidelines. Youll be delivering quality customer service to satisfy our prestigious customers. Using your initiative to identify new service opportunities for Hitachi Energy.
How youll make an impact
Youll be playing a key role within a team of knowledgeable and experienced engineers/technicians undertaking and coordinating service activities on site whilst keeping a close eye on health and safety and quality standards schedules and progress reporting to ensure customer satisfaction.
Responsible for Transformer service activities including installation and commissioning carrying out refurbishments device replacements routine maintenance inspections and identifying problems to assist with providing analysis for recommendations.
Coordinate all delivered parts materials and components for each project and optimise the use of your resources to meet delivery and performance targets as effectively as possible.
Lead jobs from start to finish under the direction of the project manager to meet clients requirements.
Maintain project site documentation and checklists prepare reports and help to resolve any issues on site. Youll provide feedback to assist with identifying and recommending effective new solutions to help meet business and/or customer needs.
Apply all safety rules and follow safe practices as well as keep environmental responsibilities in mind. But youll also assess and highlight hazards and implement actions to ensure the safety of both people and equipment.
Your Background
Electrical Engineering-related HNC apprenticeship scheme or suitable industry experience.
Experience within the Transformers or the power sector (installation/service/maintenance) and/or a broad knowledge of power engineering plant and equipment i.e. Transformers.
Proven experience with Mechanical installations Switchgear Cabling/wiring installation Oil handling/processing/sampling device function checks and power equipment testing instruments Omicron/Megger etc.
Experience in leading a team/management of subcontractors
Able to read and understand mechanical and electrical drawings
Suitable qualifications such as IPAF PASMA CCNSG though training will be provided
Full driving licence

Able to work well using your own initiative youre also a team player wholl collaborate and communicate well to achieve successful outcomes.
Youre flexible in your attitude to working hours as the role will require working all over the UK sometimes at short notice.
You have excellent organisational skills and meticulous attention to detail.
You have a systematic approach a positive mindset and are keen to learn and develop.
