Job Summary and Responsibilities
Position Summary:
Mercy General Hospital was established over 100 years ago as Sacramentos first hospital and has been providing cardiac services for over 45 years. The cardiovascular program is the largest service line in the hospital sustained by a pioneering spirit among an experienced and dedicated team of professionals. The Cardiac Support Unit (CSU) was created in the early 2000s to support the cardiovascular high volume programs both pre and post procedure. This unit is unique with 21 private gurney rooms servicing all the CV pre-procedure patients cardiac surgery same day admits and post procedure recovery. Cardiac Support Unit is an exciting place to work within a fast paced environment of preparing patients for procedures and cardiac surgery then providing post procedural recovery care. Due to the varied acuity of patients admitted to CSU nurses with a critical care background are preferred.
Cardiac Support Unit also supports the inpatient units and provides support for cardioversion and Transesophageal Echocardiography (TEE) procedures. New procedures and technologies are consistently being adopted in both the Cardiac and Electrophysiology Labs which enhances the learning and cutting edge environment on this floor.
Many registered nurses are attracted to this unit for the high level of technical skills required for managing patients with sheaths arrhythmias and cardiac implantable devices. The CSU professional nurse has extensive knowledge to care for patients undergoing a diverse range of cardiology and electrophysiology procedures.

Job Requirements
Minimum Qualifications:
- Current California Registered Nurse (RN) license
- At least (1) year of recent critical care experience
- Current BLS and ACLS certifications through the American Heart Association (AHA)
- Other certifications may be required
