Due to continued growth in the San Francisco market we are seeking dependable dishwashers and stewards to support kitchen operations at a variety of client locations.
Position Summary
The Dishwasher / Steward is responsible for maintaining cleanliness and organization in kitchen and service areas during events and daily operations. This role supports culinary teams by ensuring dishes utensils and equipment are cleaned sanitized and ready for use. This is a flexible on-call position ideal for individuals who are reliable detail-oriented and comfortable working in fast-paced kitchen environments throughout San Francisco and the Bay Area.
Key Responsibilities
• Operate commercial dishwashing equipment and hand-wash items as required
• Clean and sanitize dishes glassware utensils pots pans and kitchen equipment
• Maintain cleanliness of dish areas kitchen floors trash areas and back-of-house workspaces
• Assist with basic kitchen cleaning duties including sweeping mopping and trash removal
• Support kitchen staff with organization of clean dishes and equipment
• Follow food safety sanitation and safety procedures at all times
• Comply with client-specific rules health department standards and company policies
• Adapt to varying kitchen layouts workflows and event timelines
Qualifications
• Prior dishwasher steward or back-of-house kitchen experience preferred but not required
• Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced kitchen environment
• Understanding of basic food safety and sanitation practices
• Food Handler Card required or must be obtained within 30 days of hire
• Reliable transportation to travel to job sites throughout San Francisco and the Bay Area
• Dependable punctual and able to follow direction from chefs and kitchen leadership
• Evening weekend and holiday availability required
Physical Requirements
• Ability to stand and walk for 6–10 hours per shift
• Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds with or without reasonable accommodation
• Ability to bend stoop reach and perform repetitive motions
• Ability to work in hot wet and fast-paced kitchen environments
Work Environment
• Back-of-house kitchen and event support environment
• Exposure to heat moisture and cleaning chemicals
• Assignments issued through mobile scheduling; flexibility is essential
Compensation
• Hourly pay rates: $20.00–$222.00 per hour depending on experience and assignment
