Position Title:School Bus Driver

POSITION SUMMARY:
To provide safe and efficient transportation so that students may enjoy the fullest possible advantage from the districts curriculum and extracurricular program.
QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS:
Holds a valid drivers license for operation of the class vehicle and has at least one years experience as a licensed motor vehicle operator:
Is at least 21 years of age and has held a drivers license for at least one year;
DOT Medical Card Annual Physical;
Safety and driver training provided by the district; and
Maine Department of Education Criminal History Record Check certificate eligibility required

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
The responsibilities outlined below are representative and do not encompass or define all tasks that may be required by this position.
- Obeys all traffic laws.
- Observes all mandatory safety regulations for school buses/vans.
- Maintains discipline when students are on bus/van.
- Reports undisciplined students to the proper authority.
- Keeps assigned bus/van clean.
- Keeps to assigned schedule.
- Checks bus and/or van before each operation for mechanical defects.
- Notifies the proper authority in case of mechanical failure or lateness.
- Discharges students only at authorized stops.
- Exercises responsible leadership when on out-of-district school trips.
- Transports only authorized students.
- Reports all accidents and completes required reports.
- Enforces regulations against smoking and eating on the bus/van.
