JOB PURPOSE
To perform high-precision welding on aircraft components and structures using TIG and other specialized welding techniques. This role ensures the structural integrity safety and compliance of welded parts with aviation industry standards. The welder contributes to the manufacturing repair and maintenance of aircraft by delivering high-quality inspection-ready welds on thin-gauge aerospace materials with an emphasis on accuracy consistency and adherence to regulatory guidelines.
JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Essential Job Functions:
- Prepare and weld sheet metal aircraft components.
- Use manual Tig welding equipment.
- Use resistance spot and seam welding equipment. Measure examine and test completed parts in order to ensure conformance to specifications using precision instruments such as calipers and micrometers.
- Follow work instructions manufacturers maintenance and overhaul manuals specifications Service Bulletins Air Carriers maintenance manuals or other approved FAA data to ensure proper outcome of repair.
- Ability to read and interpret drawings blueprints and intersections.
- Performs regular and preventative maintenance on equipment and tools.
- May also fabricate or modify fixtures applying knowledge shop mathematics metal working and layout.
WORKING CONDITIONS
Physical Demands: Requires sitting or standing for extended periods of time. Requires frequent walking bending and reaching to shoulder level. Requires occasional squatting lifting carrying pushing or pulling weight up to 50 pounds. Requires repetitive hand movement. Requires eye-hand coordination and manual dexterity. Requires corrected vision and hearing to normal range.
Equipment Operated: Ability to operate office machines and equipment and troubleshoot problems with equipment.
