Metrolinx is connecting communities across the Greater Golden Horseshoe. Metrolinx operates GO Transit and UP Express as well as the PRESTO fare payment system. We are also building new and improved rapid transit including GO Expansion Light Rail Transit routes and major expansions to Torontos subway system to get people where they need to go better faster and easier. Our Capital Projects Group is seeking Senior Estimator (Mechanical Electrical and Utilities) to analyze probable costs during all stages of project development and throughout the project life cycle to develop estimates for assigned capital projects in support of capital budgets and project schedules and assists with accurate planning tendering and contracting to clarify cost and time expectations during all phases of Capital Projects and Programs.

obtain information required to develop cost estimates
Preparestendercomparisonspost-bidanalysesandotherestimatinginformationfortheprojectteamtoidentifyanomaliesagainsttheprojectplanandcommunicatesrelatedissuesandopportunitiesPreparesandmaintainscurrentcostdata
Facilitatesdataandinformationsharingbetweeninternalandexternalstakeholders(SponsorsProjectDeliveryTeamsetc.)withattentiontodataconfidentialitysecurityandurgency
Reviewssubcontractorbidspriceschedulesorquantitysurveysformulti-disciplinaryservicesrelatedtoconstructionprojectsforaccuracyandtointegratecontentintoestimates
Leads estimate preparation and reviews during all phases of assigned projects for different types of procurement models.
Prepares(orleadsthepreparationof)estimateactivities(-of-magnitudeconceptualfeasibilitypre-designlump-sumbudgetvalueengineeringcontroldefinitiveandfinalestimates)
Preparation of estimates for major change orders claims or variations

What Skills and Qualifications Do I Need

Demonstrated experience in preparing estimates for various types of procurement models is an asset. i.e Progressive Design Build (PDB) Design Bid Build and all other types of procurements.
Demonstrated experience in preparing detailed estimates related to Mechanical Electrical and utilities
Experience in developing and analyzing project cost estimates tender comparisons post-bid analyses and other estimating information to facilitate effective and efficient decision-making by project leaders
MS Office Suite (Outlook Word Excel PowerPoint etc.) Cost X Estimating software to develop and analyze cost estimates prepare basis of estimate reports.
Interpersonal and oral/written communication skills to liaise with internal stakeholders within Metrolinx like Project Delivery teams Sponsors and external stakeholders like Cities Municipalities or MTO.
Experience with data management and benchmarking to prepare maintain and analyse data and provide trends and reports.
Completion of a degree in a related discipline or a combination of education training and experience deemed equivalent
Professional Quantity Surveyor (PQS) from CIQS or Membership of AACEi would be an asset
