Reporting to the Food Store Manager responsibilities for the position include the following:
Operational Leadership
Organize direct and co-ordinate the activities and operations of theGroceryDepartment in alignment with Food Storepriorities to achieve budgeted goals whilemeeting operational efficiencies and for the executionand applicationofprocedures/best include but are not limitedto:ordering receiving processing claims managing inventory. With the support of Assistant Food Store ManagerutilizesBusiness Intelligence(BI)reportstomonitortheperformance matrixincludingshrinkinventoryandmargin tominimizecosts and maximizeprofitabilityfor the Grocery CASMs ensures standards are met and exceeded i.e. image merchandising assetprotectionand general upkeep of equipment etcin the Grocery for the organization coordinationdelegationand direction of theGroceryDepartmentteamto improvethecustomer service experience item availability retail floorimageand standards. The2ndAssistantManager provides theAssistantFoodStoreManagerwithrecommendationsand inputfor continued improvement of operationspertaining tothe Grocerydepartment.
Talent Management & Team Leadership:
Leads their team within the parameters of the CBAand Saskatoon Co-op policies and guidelines. Practices full cycle talent management talent acquisition onboarding performance management including communicating clear performance expectationscoachingand mentoringcreation of performance reviewsdevelopment planning and driving employee engagement and implementing strategies to promote a positive employee work experiencewithinthe Grocery Department.
Financial Management:
Works withAssistant Food Store Managerto review financial reporting for theGroceryDepartment and providesvariance explanations within the timelinesprovided andimplements adjustments to obtain profitability. AssistswithGroceryDepartmentaudits andimplementationofactionplansincluding regular inventory counts schedules and recording of markdowns.
Brand & Customer Experience:
Creates supports and provides direction for theGrocery Departmentcustomer service standards andpromotional activities including the building of displays; arrangements for in-store demonstrationsanduse of POP materials. Supports brand initiatives and programs in alignment with the overall marketing strategy of Saskatoon Co-op.
Safety (and Environmental) Stewardship:
Responsible for ensuring compliance with Saskatoon Co-ops Safety Policies Programs and government regulations in the Grocery Department includingbut not limited toimplementingOH&S committee decisionsparticipatinginfiredrillsandmaintainingcompliance with operatorscertification requirements.Reports incidents workplace accidents and near misses asrequired. Aids in investigations in asset protection or other related matters. Implements actions to prevent future safety eventsfor the Grocery Department.
Qualifications:
Grade 12 Diploma or Equivalent Education at a minimum with a preference for post-secondary education.
Candidates will have a minimum of 3 years experience within retail food and preferences will be given to candidates within the Co-op Retailing System.
Candidates must have a valid Food Safety Certificate WHMIS and their Forklift credentials.
