Reporting to the Head of Production Finance Scripted in Toronto this position is responsible for the production analysis and review of financial reporting and bookkeeping for the Toronto divisions including Animation.
Key responsibilities include:
PAYMENTS & REPORTS REVIEW
- Review in detail the weekly payments (payroll and vendors) across all development and production projects
- Review monthly sales tax returns and government and guild remittances
- Review of bank reconciliations
- Review of month end reports
PRODUCTION & ANALYSIS OF REPORTS
- Invoice and ensure collection of amounts provided for in service contracts broadcast licenses and financing agreements for both production and development
- Produce the weekly cashflow and ensure proper funding of bank accounts including preparation of Advance requests
- Manage the setup of the accounting system government accounts and banking of new production companies
- Execute monthly reporting obligations to the banks
- Maintain bill back schedules for active productions and ensure timely invoicing of related party transactions
- Assist in the Quarter End process (production of reports book GL entries reconciliations)
- Prepare fiscal year end packages on a timely basis for all production entities and assist in audit requests.
- Ensure proper tracking of tax returns and manage government correspondence
- Prepare detailed labour schedules for tax credit claims and any financial documents needed in the certification process.
Key Requirements:
CPA designation highly desired Bachelors Degree in Accounting is needed
Minimum of 3 years experience in a similar role
Experience in the Media industry is an asset
Excel proficiency
Detail-oriented ability to work independently and multitask
Ability to adapt in a creative fast-paced and evolving environment
