Job Description
SUMMARY:
Reporting to the Associate Director of EOF the EOF Counselor/Academic Advisor is responsible for comprehensive advisement of a caseload of students and the development and execution of recruitment retention outreach and liaison programs. The EOF Counselor/ Academic Advisor contributes to the development and implementation of the strategic vision/goals program planning policy formation outcomes assessment annual reporting and compliance with the State/University. This position is responsible for overseeing the financial aid review of all EOF scholars and non EOF Scholars within the enrollment pipeline counseling supervision/co-training of part-time employees/interns/peer leaders liaison with designated offices and departments and student development initiatives related to learning retention and satisfaction.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Provide comprehensive group and one-on-one counseling/advising to all assigned students.
Provide comprehensive Financial Aid/literacy services including but not limited to reviewing income eligibility of applicants posting scholar grants providing financial aid presentations generating financial aid reports and serving as a liaison with Financial Aid and HESAA.
Manage student financial aid internal and external procedures including posting and review related to FAFSA and NJFAMS platform.
Train team members to utilize internal and external fiscal platforms (e.g. FAFSA) and ensure compliance with applicable federal state and local laws and applicable policies/procedures.
Provide comprehensive group and one-on-one financial aid and general counseling/advising to all assigned students including but not limited to first-year upper-class first semester transfers undeclared and other groups as needed.
Adhere to and ensure compliance with applicable federal state and local laws and University/EOF Program policies and procedures that govern academic advising practices including but not limited to curriculum updates academic requirements and exceptions caseload management roster review and annual grant reporting.
Utilize available electronic student record/information systems such as Canvas Banner Degree Works EOB Navigate as well as assessment tools and data from standardized assessments such as CIRP and NSSE in the delivery of services to ensure the program meets the needs of advisees.
Serve as a liaison to the school/programs/department as appointed by the EOF Leadership and develop partnerships with key internal and external stakeholders.
Participate in recruitment/enrollment/retention related activities including dual enrollment logistics presentations outreach programming and assessment.
Review applicable data and publications for accuracy and respond in appropriate timeline.
Seek active membership and participation in related professional associations and maintain awareness of current trends and issues related to the EOF population.
Perform other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:
REQUIRED:
Masters degree from accredited college or university.
A minimum of three years of experience in higher education related support services.
Experience working with first-generation scholars.
Strong analytical and data management skills.
PREFERRED:
Strong oral/written communication and interpersonal skills.
