What will you dointhis position

You willperform and support specialized communications processes and activities helping to highlight humanitarian needs and WFPs role and impact in Ukraine protect WFPs reputation as well as provide practical information to the public on WFP programmes.

The war in Ukraine has had drastic consequences both for people inside the country and for those around the world who depend on its food supplies. The war has caused immense suffering for civilians displaced families and disrupted supply chains and food production. It has caused one of the fastest forced population movements since the Second World War. Close to 6 million Ukrainians are still living as refugees across Europe and almost 3.6million are internally displaced. Many have lost their homes and livelihoods. As food production and supply lines are disrupted by fighting many families in the east and south of Ukraine do not have reliable access to nutritious food.

WFP uses a combination of food and cashassistanceto support communities affected by the war. This includes working with local partners to distribute food boxes in areas near the frontline and providing cash transfers in locations where people have access to banks and markets to buy food. Since March 2022 WFP has distributed food and cashassistanceequivalent to 3.7billion meals to people displaced and affected by the war.

How can you make a difference

Inthis position you will have to:

  • Support the development of a social media and digital communications strategy conduct research suggestideasandmaintaina social mediacontentplan using opportunities such as important dates currentconversationsand trends.
  • Liaise with partnersand relevant WFP units togather up-to-date information and updates on WFP activitiestoidentifyopportunities for externalcommunications
  • Produce or support the production of multimedia content and human stories for use on social media including by visiting activities in the field whenrequiredoraccompanying/supervising content producers (videographers photographers)
  • Ensureappropriate storageand captioning of multimedia content on WFPs multimedia hub for use by other WFP offices globally
  • Support theplanningand coverage ofspecial eventsand campaigns such as UNdaysand campaigns report launches media briefings etc.
  • Monitor social media and traditional report relevant information to senior staff and keep track of WFP mentions for internal records and evaluation
  • Preparedistributeor promote communications guidelines for WFP staffand staff of partner NGOsto refer to when creating or publishing content; organize trainings and briefings
  • Monitor and oversee communicationsactivitiesofWFPsNGOpartners ensuring adherence to WFP guidelinessuch as branding guidelines alignment withWFPs voice and identityprotectionand privacy requirements.
  • Prepare communications material for public information campaigns such as posters leafletsetc.
  • Support design and/or procurement of branded clothing and merchandise items
  • Respond to specialised queries and requests from supports from internal teams
  • Maintain good relationships with internal teams and external stakeholders to ensureappropriate flowof information.

    To join us in saving lives changing lives you will have:

    Education:Completion of secondary school education.

    A post-secondary certificate in Communication Marketing or another related functional area.

    Experience:Minimum seven(7) years of progressively responsible relevant work experience in the related field. Post-secondary education can compensate for some years of experience. For example you will be considered as eligible if you have:

    • Four(4) years of work experience in combination with a MastersDegree;
    • Five(5) years of work experience in combination with aBachelors Degree.

    Knowledge & Skills:

    • Experience producing multimedia contentfor social mediais
    • Experience managing asocial media account(preferably institutional/organizational)is
    • Experience planning or supporting external communications campaigns or events is
    • Intermediate knowledge of video editing photo editing and graphic design is a strong advantage
    • Intermediate knowledge or skills in photography and videography/filmmaking is an advantage

    Language: Fluency (level C) in both in Englishand Ukrainianlanguages.
