Job Summary

This is a remote position.

Virtual Rockstar is hiring a full-time Credentialing & Billing Specialist on behalf of our client an outpatient physical therapy provider in Alaska. This role is ideal for someone who is highly organized detail-oriented and consistent with follow-throughsomeone who can manage credentialing paperwork track deadlines communicate with traveling providers and payers and support billing and A/R tasks as time allows.

This position is a great fit for an operations-minded person who enjoys systems tracking documentation and staying ahead of deadlines in a fast-moving clinical environment where traveling providers are frequently coming and going.

Responsibilities

Provider Credentialing & Re-Credentialing

  • Gather necessary information and documentation from new and traveling providers to begin credentialing.

  • Prepare complete and submit all credentialing applications for new providers across payers and networks.

  • Complete re-credentialing applications as they come due and ensure submissions are completed ahead of deadlines.

  • Track all credentialing submissions and payer responses using Excel-based credentialing trackers.

  • Proactively follow up with payers via phone and email to confirm receipt check status and resolve missing items.

  • Manage and complete CAQH profiles and attestations ensuring provider information stays accurate and current.

  • Perform monthly sanctions checks for all providers and document results consistently.

Provider & Payer Communication

  • Serve as a key point of contact for credentialing-related questions and documentation requests.

  • Coordinate communication with providers to ensure they submit required information quickly and completely.

  • Manage credentialing correspondence and keep records of communications submission dates and approvals.

  • Escalate credentialing issues when timelines are at risk or payer requirements change.

Billing & Accounts Receivable Support

  • Assist the billing team with Accounts Receivable follow-up as time allows.

  • Support claims follow-up by contacting payers regarding unpaid or delayed claims.

  • Document claim follow-up outcomes clearly and escalate issues to billing leadership when needed.

  • Support other billing-related tasks as assigned to help keep revenue cycle workflows moving.

Scheduling & Meeting Support

  • Schedule meetings as needed and support internal coordination.

  • Block provider schedules appropriately in the EMR when credentialing or onboarding is in progress.

  • Join weekly meetings with the leadership/admin team and provide updates on credentialing progress and outstanding items.

Tools & Systems

  • Prompt EMR

  • Microsoft Outlook

  • Microsoft Office Suite (Excel Word)



Requirements

  • Prior experience in healthcare administration with strong preference for candidates with credentialing and/or billing experience.

  • Familiarity with provider credentialing workflows including submitting applications and performing payer follow-up.

  • Experience working with CAQH and/or provider enrollment processes strongly preferred.

  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel Word and Outlook (non-negotiable).

  • Excellent organizational and time management skills; able to manage multiple active credentialing workflows at once.

  • Strong attention to detailaccurate documentation and deadline tracking are essential.

  • Confident communicator who is comfortable making follow-up calls to insurance payers and requesting information from providers.

  • Reliable and consistent follow-through; able to work independently and keep processes moving without constant oversight.

Required Skills:

Previous experience in a medical administrative role (medical assistant medical receptionist or similar) is preferred. Familiarity with WebPT EMR and Therabill for patient payment posting is a plus. Strong communication skills both written and verbal. Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively. Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail. High level of professionalism and commitment to maintaining patient confidentiality. Comfortable with remote work and proficient in using virtual communication tools. Knowledge of insurance verification and pre-authorizations is a plus. Ability to work collaboratively with a team and contribute to a positive patient experience.
