About the role

As a Mental Health Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS) you will join an established and supportive team using your expertise in adult psychiatry to deliver high-quality patient-centred care. This pivotal role will see you working closely with the Mental Health Service Manager to maintain and enhance standards of care for adult patients within the Adult Open Wards.

Our service offers a broad range of specialised programs including adult older adult psychiatric intensive care young adult and youth services. As part of the CNS team you will also provide clinical leadership guidance and support across the wider mental health service encompassing 15 Older Adult beds 51 Adult Open beds 16 PICU beds 20 Youth beds and 10 MHOA beds.

This is a permanent full-time opportunity.

Your responsibilities will include but are not limited to:

  • Lead and supervise nursing teams for evidence-based care and optimal patient outcomes.
  • Accountable for maintaining and improving care standards developing solutions and achieving outcomes aligned with JHC Mental Health Service and Ramsay organisational goals.
  • Key leader in the interdisciplinary team ensuring patient-centred service delivery across quality budgets human resources and professional development.
  • Provide consultation and liaison services
  • Report to and support the Mental Health Service Manager in growing the service and overseeing various mental health service areas from time to time.
  • Manage the rostering of Adult Open Ward Staff and all related aspects to it including leave contract variations and exceptions.
  • Perform weekly staffing duties across the service liaising accordingly with the MHS Senior Nursing Team
  • Assist the MHSM in managing staffing related matters for smaller teams including ECT CL and PSOLIS Admin

About You

To excel in this role we are actively on the lookout for a positive and dynamic team player with outstanding clinical and interpersonal skills. Your ability to thrive in a fast-paced setting coupled with effective time management will be key to meeting your responsibilities.

  • Relevant registration with AHPRA
  • Minimum of 7 years experience or 5 years with relevant post-graduate qualification including at least 2 years of recent relevant experience at a senior level in the provision of Mental Health Services in an acute adult mental health setting.
  • Transferrable skills and experience will be considered accordingly
  • Knowledge of legislative requirements in relation to nursing practice
  • Knowledge of Quality/Continuous Improvement processes.
  • Excellent self-motivated leader and team player

Desirable:

  • Possession of or substantial progress towards a relevant post graduate qualification and/or relevant equivalent
  • Experience as a resource and mentor to others in the relation to clinical practice.

Remuneration

As per latest EBA (WA Clinical Nurse/Midwife Level 3:4 superannuation based on experience level and qualifications exclusive of penalties or allowances.
