Were looking for a Designer for a 12-month paternity leave contract to help evolve and execute the look and feel of GYG restaurants - from new builds to refurbishments prototypes brand innovations and everything in between. What youll do
As a Designer at GYG youll work under the Development Team alongside Real Estate Asset & Construction to ensure every restaurant reflects our brand vision operational needs and world-class standards. This is a hands-on technically strong detail-obsessed role - perfect for someone who loves turning concepts into beautiful buildable realities.
Restaurant Design & Planning
- Create feasibility layouts and internal plans for new and existing store formats
- Translate brand guidelines into functional beautiful restaurant designs
- Support conceptual development of new formats refurbishments and brand initiatives
Project & Stakeholder Collaboration
- Work closely with external designers architects and suppliers to maintain brand consistency
- Review external documentation to ensure compliance with quality standards codes and regulations
- Collaborate with internal teams across Development Operations Marketing and Sustainability.
Documentation & Technical Delivery
- Produce or update design documentation packs (concept tender construction) as required
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date design standards guidelines and CAD plans
- Use AutoCAD SketchUp and other design tools to deliver precise high-quality documentation
Innovation & Continuous Improvement
- Identify cost efficiencies through thoughtful design and value engineering
- Contribute to long-term evolution of GYGs restaurant aesthetic
- Ensure design solutions are functional scalable and operationally friendly
What youll bring
- Degree in Interior Design Architecture Drafting or similar
- 4-6 years commercial design experience (retail hospitality or multi-site preferred but not essential!)
- Strong understanding of construction processes budgets and documentation.
- Working knowledge of the Building Code of Australia and relevant standards.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD and design software (SketchUp InDesign Photoshop Illustrator)
- Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining a collaborative mindset showing strong initiative and working efficiently under pressure.
- Demonstrated track record of delivering accurate timely and high-quality project outcomes on a consistent basis
- Excellent organisation technical skill and an ability to balance creativity with commercial realities in a fast-changing business.
- Availability to travel domestically as required.
