Job/Department Summary:

Working independently under the general direction of the Director of New Student Orientation and Transition Programs and (NSOT) incumbent performs moderately complex professional services work. This position assists with the design planning coordination and implementation of New Student Orientation and Transition Programs. Responsibilities include assisting with scheduling facilities recruiting and training student staff assisting in the development and delivery of presentations and providing communication to student participants and guests. Incumbent will also facilitate workshops and training for student peer leaders as well as presentations to student and parent/guest orientation participants; assist with the training of student staff to support academic advising as part of the orientation program; incumbent will assist with collaboration with partner offices including academic departments individual faculty advisors student service offices and enrollment management entities. This position requires the ability to develop familiarity with university programs processes policies and services and the ability to work independently without day-to-day supervision. This position assists with creating a welcoming introduction to the university and operates in a fast-paced deadline driven office with a high level of student and public contact.

Required Education and Experience:

Equivalent to graduation from a four-year college or university in one of the behavioral sciences public or business administration or a job-related field.
AND
Three years of full-time professional experience in one of the student services program areas or in a related field; experience should give evidence of competence and indicate the potential for further growth.

*A masters degree in a job-related field may be substituted for one year of professional experience.
**Additional specialized experience which demonstrates the applicant has successfully applied the knowledge and abilities of a Student Services professional may also be substituted for required education on a year-for year basis.

Preferences:

Preference may be given to applicants with the following as they may be considered specialized skills:

  • Masters degree in Higher Education Student Affairs Counseling or a related field.
  • Four years of full-time equivalent experience in higher education.
  • Evidence of commitment to equity and inclusion.
  • Ability to understand and interpret CSU Chico State and State mandated onboarding policies.

Time Base: Full-time

Pay Plan: 12/12

Work Schedule: Mon-Fri 8:00am-5:00pm Summer: Mon-Thurs 7:00am-5:30pm

CSU Classification Salary Range: $66480 - $94716 per year.
