Overview

The Emory Critical Care Post Graduate Advanced Practice Provider (APP) Fellowship is currently accepting applications for the Fall 2026 cohort.

The Emory Center for Critical Care NP/PA post graduate Fellowship is a one-year training program that teaches fellows to become highly skilled in the multidisciplinary collaborative and evidence-based management of complex patients in the intensive care unit. This program attracts new graduates seeking a structured educational program who want to become experts and leaders in their field as well as practicing providers who are interested in critical care medicine.

Our program is unique in that it combines a highly detailed competency-based curriculum with hands-on learning in the clinical setting.

Rotations incorporate medical cardiac general surgical and neurological ICUs across all Emory Healthcare institutions as well as brief exposures with nephrology echocardiography and infectious disease services. Fellows will also spend time in the operating room getting hands on training with airway management and endotracheal tubes.

Requirements:

  • Eligible to graduate from an accredited ACNP/AGACNP or PA program. Family Nurse Practitioners (FNPs) are not eligible to apply.
  • Submission of a completed application by 03/27/2026.
  • Completed application includes submission of the following supporting documentation:
    • CV/Resume

    • Three (3) Electronic References submitted via the Electronic Reference format found on the program web page.
    • Official transcripts are required upon completion of graduate program and prior to starting Fellowship. If currently enrolled provide your most recent transcript. If graduated submit your final transcript.

Description

The Emory Critical Care APP fellowship offers an innovative 12-month curriculum composed of in-person didactics online learning modules simulation lab proctored procedures and mentored clinical experiences.

  • Broad complex patient experiences in an award-winning academic center.
  • Clinical experiences with rotations in multiple specialty ICUs and across multiple Emory campuses.
  • Inter-professional experiences and team-based learning.
  • Case presentations.
  • Didactic experiences in a multifaceted learning opportunities.
  • Didactics in essential critical care medicine topics

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Completion of a PA program or an Acute Care NP program (ACNP or AG-ACNP) is required.
  • Board certification in given area (NP or PA) required.
  • Acute Care NP license or PA license issued by the State of Georgia prior to program start date.
  • BLS ACLS and Healthcare Provider certifications required.

    • If currently enrolled provide your most recent transcript
    • If graduated submit your final transcript.
  • BLS and ACLS Cards (American Heart Association only)
  • Electronic References one of which must be from your program director if you are currently enrolled or have graduated within the past two years.

Program Start Date: The Fellowship is anticipated to start in early October 2026.

  • The Emory APP Critical Care Fellowship does not grant advanced placement. All fellows must complete the full program.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS (Medium): 20-50 lbs; 0-33% of the work day (occasionally); 11-25 lbs 34-66% of the workday (frequently); 01-10 lbs 67-100% of the workday (constantly); Lifting 50 lbs max; Carrying of objects up to 25 lbs; Occasional to frequent standing & walking Occasional sitting Close eye work (computers typing reading writing) Physical demands may vary depending on assigned work area and work tasks.

ENVIRONMENTAL FACTORS: Factors affecting environment conditions may vary depending on the assigned work area and tasks. Environmental exposures include but are not limited to: Blood-borne pathogen exposure Bio-hazardous waste Chemicals/gases/fumes/vapors Communicable diseases Electrical shock Floor Surfaces Hot/Cold Temperatures Indoor/Outdoor conditions Latex Lighting Patient care/handling injuries Radiation Shift work Travel may be required. Use of personal protective equipment including respirators environmental conditions may vary depending on assigned work area and work tasks.
