Job Summary

Introduction

We at the Potomac Center/SETT facility provide qualityperson-centered support to adults with intellectual disabilities at our campusin Hagerstown Maryland.

Our aim is to partner with the community to help ourresidents achieve their Potomac Center is a 62-bed licensed Intermediate CareFacility (ICF). This program focuses on using therapeutic interventions toempower residents as they learn the skills they need to successfully return tocommunity living.

The Secure Evaluation andTherapeutic Treatment (SETT) Program located within the Potomac Center campusis a 32-bed licensed Forensic Residential Center that provides services toindividuals with intellectual disabilities and court involvement within a safeand secure environment. The program provides assistance as they resolve theircourt involvement and work toward transitioning to a less secured SETT utilizes active treatment as well as providing evaluation assessmentand competency attainment education.

Main Purpose of Job

A Maintenance Mechanic Senior is the advanced level of work in the building and grounds maintenance in this classification perform general maintenance tasks such as simple construction repairs toroadways and walks routine preventative maintenance heavy janitorial and general services work. Employeesin this classification devote the bulk of the work time in the actual performance of maintenance and repair tasksbut on occasion employees may assign work examine completed work and provide immediate guidance andassistance to a team of unskilled or semi-skilled employees such as Maintenance Mechanics patient andjanitorial employees.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education: Eighth grade.

Experience: Four years of experience in any combination of the maintenance trades three years must be in the trades of electricity plumbing steam fitting refrigeration or air conditioning.

Notes:

1. Candidates may substitute additional experience in any of the maintenance trades on a year-for-year basis for up to three years of the required education.

2. Candidates may substitute the possession of a degree from an accredited vocational or technical high school with a major in Building Maintenance or a related fieldfor up to three years of the required general experience.

3. Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a non-commissioned officer in utilities repairclassifications or construction and engineering specialty codes inany combination of maintenance trades on a year-for-year basis for the required experience.

LICENSES REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS

Employees in this classification may be assigned duties which require the operation of a motor vehicle. Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess a motor vehicle operators license valid in the State of Maryland.
