Job Description Summary

We are seeking an experienced and highly skilled Senior Electrical Engineer to join our Technology Team.

The ideal candidate will have at least extensive and demonstrated years of experience in the development and design of power transformers and shunt reactors as well as a deep understanding of international standards such as ISO IEC and IEEE.

Experience with design failure analysis tools (DFMEA) root cause analysis (RCA) and FEA tools will be highly beneficial.

Additionally the role requires occasional travel and fluency in English.

Job Description

Key Responsibilities:

  • Product development of Medium and Large Power Transformers as well as Shunt reactors.

  • Lead and participate in design reviews and collaborate with cross-functional teams to address design issues risks and opportunities for improvement.

  • Apply DFMEA (Design Failure Mode and Effects Analysis) to identify potential failure modes and improve design robustness.

  • Ensure designs comply with all relevant industry standards and best practices including but not limited to ISO IEC IEEE.

  • Ensuring components and assemblies adhere to applicable industry and business standards.

  • Using specialised software to analyse magnetic circuits electro-magnetic fields insulation strength and verification of electrical adequacy of products.

  • Promoting PTR wide initiatives related to electrical design quality and reliability.

  • Supporting PTR quality initiatives with an important focus on design robustness.

  • Develop and maintain business relations and effective communication with suppliers to benefit from their support & to support suppliers in production of quality components.

  • Conduct failure analysis using RCA (Root Cause Analysis) to resolve design-related issues effectively.

  • Conceptual or theoretical activities that deals with the study/research and application of electricity electronics and electromagnetism.

  • Utilise in-depth knowledge of a technical discipline and analytical thinking and technical experience to execute policy/strategy.

  • Knowledge of best practices and how own area integrates with others; awareness of the competition and the factors that differentiate them in the market.

  • Use judgment in a moderate complex environment and have some ability to propose different solutions outside of set parameters to address more complicated manufacturing processes with technical variety and/or interdependent production cycles. Use technical experience and analytical thinking. Use multiple internal and limited external sources outside of own teams to arrive at decisions.

  • Act as a resource for colleagues with less experience. May lead projects and resource requirements. Explain difficult information develop skills to bring team members to consensus around topics within field. Convey performance expectations and may handle sensitive issues.

  • Travel to manufacturing units conferences and customers.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelors or masters degree in electrical engineering.

  • Extensive and demonstrated years of experience in transformer development and design.

  • Extensive knowledge of international standards (ISO IEC IEEE etc.) and industry best practices in transformer design.

  • Proficiency in CAD tools.

  • Exceptional experience with design failure analysis tools such as DFMEA and failure investigation using RCA (Root Cause Analysis).

  • Familiarity with FEA tools.

  • Ability to develop and optimise designs in accordance with customer requirements and applicable regulations.

  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to collaborate across teams and interact with customers.

  • Excellent problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.

  • Willingness to travel.

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience with transformer manufacturing processes.

  • Understanding of transformer operational performance including mechanical and thermal aspects.

  • Experience with international projects and the ability to work in multi-disciplinary cross-cultural teams.

  • Knowledge of methodologies for the development of new technologies and products
