Job Summary

We are looking for an Imaging Equipment Specialist Illinois for a fulltime-position.

Summary:
This permanent position is responsible for the ongoing Planned Maintenance (PM) and Corrective Maintenance (CM) of advanced diagnostic and therapeutic imaging equipment across clinical departments. The role plays a critical part in ensuring the reliability safety and regulatory compliance of high-precision medical imaging systems including those in nuclear medicine ultrasound angiography and radiation therapy. The incumbent supports equipment installation coordinates vendor and clinical team communications and contributes to continuous improvement through training technical expertise and adherence to industry standards. This position requires a high level of technical proficiency regulatory knowledge and commitment to patient safety and operational excellence within a collaborative healthcare environment.

Responsibilities:
  • Perform scheduled and unscheduled maintenance on complex radiological and therapeutic imaging systems ensuring compliance with PM schedules and quality standards.
  • Diagnose repair and service specialized equipment such as nuclear cameras CT simulators mammography units R/F systems vascular suites PACS and radiation therapy devices.
  • Order necessary parts and supplies within departmental guidelines; recommend test equipment and spare components to the Clinical Engineering Manager.
  • Coordinate repair activities with vendors and clinical users including follow-up documentation and verification of resolution.
  • Participate in and lead in-service training sessions for clinical staff on equipment operation safety and maintenance best practices.
  • Mentor and support Biomedical Equipment Technicians I and II as assigned.
  • Provide after-hours on-call coverage on a rotating basis to ensure continuous equipment availability.
  • Maintain high customer satisfaction through timely accurate and professional service delivery.
  • Contribute to team goals through effective communication collaboration and feedback.
  • Perform minor duties typically assigned to Biomedical Equipment Technicians and assume additional responsibilities as a Lead Biomedical Equipment Technician or as directed.


Requirements

Requirements:
  • Associate of Applied Sciences degree in medical electronics electronic technology imaging service technology or equivalent military training and experience.
  • Certified Radiology Equipment Service (CRES) certification preferred but not required.
  • Three or more years of hands-on experience in corrective and planned maintenance of nuclear medicine diagnostic x-ray therapeutic x-ray ultrasound or radiation therapy equipment.
  • Demonstrated expertise with complex testing instruments (e.g. high-voltage bleeder dynalyzer densitometer non-invasive KVp meter).
  • Manufacturer- or third-party-certified training in at least one of the following: nuclear medicine diagnostic x-ray therapeutic x-ray ultrasound or radiation therapy systems.
  • In-depth knowledge of radiation physics medical terminology medical instrumentation anatomy physiology imaging service techniques and 21 CFR regulations.
  • Strong understanding of OSHA NFPA The Joint Commission EOC FDA and other applicable regulatory standards.
  • Ability to interpret complex equipment failure reports follow detailed technical instructions and document repair actions accurately.
  • Proven ability to thrive in a collaborative shared leadership environment.
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills to engage effectively with clinicians physicists administrators and vendors.
  • Physical ability to perform tasks requiring bending climbing crawling lifting up to 50 lbs routinely (50% of the time) and up to 100 lbs occasionally (5% of the time).
  • Ability to push or pull over 100 lbs frequently (20% of the time).
  • Must meet all physical and sensory requirements including vision hearing manual dexterity and environmental adaptability.
  • Commitment to upholding safety standards and maintaining a safe work environment for patients staff and associates.
Work Environment:
This role requires working in diverse clinical and technical environments including exposure to radiation electrical hazards mechanical risks and biohazardous materials. The position demands sustained focus under pressure adaptability to changing priorities and consistent adherence to safety protocols.
