Role summary:
The Senior Analyst will be responsible for managing the full spectrum of accounting and financial reporting activities related to venture investments. This role involves owning the month-end and quarter-end close processes investment lifecycle recording and monthly fair value assessments including token-related activities. The Senior Analyst will collaborate closely with Legal Tax and Ventures teams to ensure accurate accounting treatment of complex transactions drive process improvements to enhance efficiency and support audit and SOX compliance efforts. Additionally they will provide insightful ad-hoc financial analysis and contribute to special projects playing a key role in maintaining the accuracy transparency and scalability of investment accounting functions in a fast-paced environment.
Key responsibilities:
Own and manage key aspects of the month-end and quarter-end close process including preparing journal entries account reconciliations and financial statements related to venture investments to ensure timely and accurate reporting.
Manage the end-to-end life cycle of investment recording including tracking capital calls distributions acquisitions and dispositions with accuracy and compliance.
Oversee monthly token activities such as issuance transfers conversions and perform fair value assessments to reflect current market conditions.
Conduct monthly assessments of investments for observable changes in fair value due to conversions follow-on investments or market movements and lead quarterly impairment assessments by gathering relevant information and collaborating with the investments team.
Identify recommend and implement process improvements and automation opportunities to increase efficiency accuracy and scalability within the investment accounting function.
Partner with Legal Tax and Ventures teams to operationalize new and complex business transactions ensuring accurate accounting treatment and proper documentation for all activities.
Support internal and external audits by preparing necessary documentation responding to inquiries and ensuring compliance with US GAAP and Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) internal control requirements.
Take ownership of ad-hoc projects and provide financial analysis modeling and insights to support strategic decision-making and special business initiatives.
Maintain strong attention to detail and organizational skills to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Utilize advanced Excel skills and accounting systems to analyze and report investment financial data effectively.
Communicate clearly and proactively with cross-functional teams to drive alignment and timely resolution of accounting and reporting issues.
Demonstrate strong problem-solving abilities to address accounting challenges related to venture investments and contribute to continuous improvement efforts.
Ensure all investment accounting activities comply with regulatory standards and accounting principles maintaining accuracy and transparency throughout reporting processes.
Required Qualifications:
Bachelors degree in Accounting Finance Economics or a related field.
Minimum 5years of relevant experience in accounting or financial analysis preferably with exposure to investment accounting or venture capital accounting.
Strong knowledge of US GAAP and financial reporting principles.
Experience with month-end close journal entries account reconciliations and financial reporting.
Familiarity with fair value measurement and impairment assessment processes.
Understanding of Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) controls and compliance requirements.
Advanced proficiency in Google Sheets/Docs with the ability to manage and analyze large datasets.
Strong analytical skills with advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel (pivot tables VLOOKUP formulas).
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for effective cross-functional collaboration.
Ability to work autonomously prioritize tasks and manage a high-volume workload effectively.
Detail-oriented with strong organizational and problem-solving abilities.
Preferred Qualifications:
CPA CFA or other relevant accounting/finance certifications.
Prior experience working in venture capital private equity or investment management environments.
Experience with tokenized assets or digital asset accounting.
Knowledge of tax implications related to investments and collaboration experience with tax teams.
Experience with process improvement methodologies such as Lean or Six Sigma.
Familiarity with financial modeling and scenario analysis.
Experience with ERP systems like NetSuite.
Familiarity with G-Suite and FloQast is a plus.
A deep curiosity about blockchain technology and the crypto economy.
