Job Summary

Job Title: Inspection Technician
Classification: Non-Exempt (Hourly)
Department: Tooling
Reports to: Tooling Supervisor
Position: Night Shift


Position Summary:
Verifies the final shape of forging dies; ensures finished product is free of defects using visual tactile and laser scan inspection. Ensures any deviation found within the body of work is within defined specifications.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Perform final inspection on new and repaired forging dies using 3D laser scanning system.
  • Perform detailed tactile and visual inspections of forging dies.
  • Generate inspection reports including deviations and tolerances for items scanned with the laser scanning system.
  • Perform scheduled calibrations of inspection equipment.
  • Provide detailed documentation on the content of work performed in the Tooling Department.
  • Assist in populating the daily shop schedule.
  • Documents actions and verifies process adherence by completing process documentation.
  • Maintain sanctity of the workspace through the enforcement of 5s principals.
  • Maintains safe operations by following safety procedures and regulations.
  • Maintains equipment by completing preventative maintenance requirements (PM) troubleshooting minor maintenance issues and calling for repairs.
  • Accomplishes departmental goals by taking ownership of the inspection process.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

  • Ability to develop and execute a detailed daily plan based on priorities given.
  • Ability to read and understand basic English.
  • Ability to follow instructions.
Education & Experience:
  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Associates degree in a technical field; or an equivalent combination of education and experience preferred.
  • 3-5 years experience in manufacturing preferred.
  • Previous experience in quality assurance metrology or tool inspection preferred.

Work Environment & Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to sit/stand/walk 12 hrs. per day.
  • Ability to lift and carry 50 lbs.
  • Ability to work in hot/cold environments.
