Summary/Objective: The NDT 1 Technician will work under the direct supervision of an NDT Level 2 Technician to obtain the technical knowledge and hands-on training hours required with the goal of successfully obtaining an NDT Level 2 certification and perform various inspection tasks independently. They must be familiar with OSHA requirements for safety and hot work onboard naval vessels.
Duties include but are not limited to:
- An NDT Level 1 individual should be qualified to properly perform specific calibrations specific NDT processes (VT MT & PT) and specific evaluations for acceptance or rejection determinations according to written instructions and to record results.
- Perform work scope review procedural reviews and documentation required and preparations of equipment and/or supplies needed.
- Perform inspections and completed required documentation under the supervision of an NDT Level II Technician.
- Assist and support NDT Level II Technician with various types of inspection.

Education / Experience Required:
- Must be able to work in the US.
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Must have a valid California drivers license.
- Must possess basic skills (reading writing and mathematical skills).
Preferred:
- A plus previous experience in a ship repair environment.
- Able to read comprehend and prepare technical documentation specifications and procedures.
- MS Office (Outlook Word Excel) computer skills.
- Understand the Naval Ship Repair requirements and working environment.
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work: This is a full-time position requires 40 hours of work per week. M-F(or as otherwise assigned by NDT Supervisor) with pre-scheduled overtime as needed.
Work Environment: This job operates in an office and also a shipyard work environment.
Travel: This position does require ability to travel.
Physical Demands: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Must be available to work at heights confined spaces and have ability to climb staircases and ladders of varying sizes.
May involve carrying objects that weigh up to 50 lbs. frequent stooping bending crawling reaching and walking.
Work Authorization/Security Clearance (if applicable)
- Completion of a satisfactory background check
- Passing a drug test and physical examination
- Eligibility to work in the US.
- Obtaining DBIDS level security clearance.
- OSHA 10 Maritime
